    It's less Tacoma and more mod
    No, it would for a couple mins after starting. It would misfire when starting after sitting for a bit. But otherwise ran decent. Got it fixed over last summer and all went well. I have the 4cyl but it's the same situation, iron block, aluminum head. It was just consuming coolant slowly.

    What do you think I should do? I have no signs of a blown hg besides the 10 mins it blew smoke on decel and the smell

    I'd have a proper leakdown test done to determine if your gasket is blown or head is cracked.
