Anti theft D ring shackles?

Neighbor and his son have never been offroad and both trucks have bright red shackles hanging from the hitch. Posers.

 

Past a Chevy 4x4 with red shackles just a few minutes ago. Neither the 4 wheel drive or shackles look like they have ever been used. Quite common here. It's sort of like earrings. The have no purpose except for decoration.

 

Mine sit in the cargo area under the rear seat....Don't think anyone is walking off with them while I flex on the curb at Kroger.

I really dislike companies with ‘America’ or ‘USA’ in their product name, yet the product(s) is made in China/Thailand, etc…. I’m talking to you too, ‘Rhino USA’. I avoid these products whenever possible.

On topic - I have a shackle on a hitch receiver kit and use a hitch lock on it. That keeps it from falling off and provides some theft protection. I carry the shackle bolt to switch out as needed on hard pills.

 

I'm not on Instagram, so I just keep that shit in my recovery bag until I need it. Straps are in the bag, anyway.

 

Agreed, some even use an American flag on their packaging, just deceptive.

 

Never had one stolen... HOWEVER I've noticed one missing a time or two. Then I realized what that loud thunk was driving down the freeway a few days earlier.

 

I have one on my hitch and I use wire to keep the pin from coming out the rest are kept inside with the recovery gear.

I probably should but I use the one in my hitch quite a bit and just got lazy always pulling it out haha.

 

Pack in the red loctite and crank it down. Good luck taking it off, but it's possible.

why leave it on? Because it matches?
