    That's the same anti-theft device I have. We're a dying breed!

It works amazing , the Snap On guy had us hold a steel rod on one end, he put the gel in the middle and heated the other end with a torch till it was cherry red. The rod was less than a foot long and my bare hand barely could feel warmth.

The lowest I could get is $3.00 for shipping the one screw, so its $6.50 out the door.

or get a rear full float kit, and just turn the hub off when you park... wont go anywhere, and they'll just think the truck is busted...

A word of warning for those expensive "tamper resistant" bolts with the post in the center: Every one of those that I have encountered can have the post pulled out easily with pliers and then the standard hex or torx tool used. While it would be possible to mechanically fix/glue the post into the bolt, I have never encountered it done from the factory.

That would have to be some really small pliers, nothing is full proof, it's just another level of security, are you here just to criticize or are you actually concerned for others?
Theres no way in hell your getting that pin out with pliers, make a video and show us, thx for your concern.

I am simply stating how I, personally, have defeated those fasteners. I feel like they provide a false sense of security and others might appreciate knowing about the flaw so that it can be either mitigated or another option chosen.

Small needle-nose pliers always did the trick for me. Give it a try.

With security torx, I'm sufficiently happy. They work really well.

I don't know, but I just stick the key in the tailgate and lock it.

In terms of the truck, well it's a 3rd gen so no one is going to steal it.

A screw driver will easily overcome your tailgate handle lock.
As far as your truck not getting stolen cause it's a 3rd gen, you have a false since of security my friend. Tacoma's are highly desirable 2nd gen and 3rd gens alike.
Just do alittle research and you won't want to leave your trucks side, just sayin

**auto** locking tailgate is ridiculously convenient and prevents people from even accessing the "tamper resistant" hardware
