Umm, yes! Prices have gone up (like everything else) so I ordered a Gen2 ATD or ADT (antitheft device, tailgate?) at $25, updated pricing is on another thread.
I think I'll paint my device fluorescent orange or that fire engine yellow-green to make it obvious when the tailgate is opened. I could add lettering: "If you have time to steal this, you have time to work for dinner."

Update after looking at the later thread: Gen2 ATD $25 (due to tooling change my order will be delayed a couple days), powder coating $15, T-45 security Torx head $3.50, and Gen3 ATD is? Chris was just asked if he'd have this for a Silverado, so there is a wider market.

dang, maybe I shouldn't have paid to have had mine PDR'd a while ago
at least they did a good job

    Same.
    Good idea.
There's also ear type pinch clamps/oetiker style.

I wonder what everyone's preferred lube for tailgate moving parts are, and otherwise.
Once, my handle got stuck in the cold, but magically fixed itself.
To my dismay, I looked into the springs of the latch and realized I never really lubed them. So now they have rust, but still work.
In a rush, I sprayed WD-40 which I've used on plenty of cars. Wiper arms, door hinges, hood latches, etc.
but from what I hear it is cheap and not the best. Besides that it displaces water (good, WD stands for Water Displacement) it is also thin and attracts dust/dirt/grit.
I wonder if there is a better product anyone uses.
For now I will probably just keep using WD-40 to prevent it from drying and help rinse out any contaminated old pool of it left. Like every 5k or so or whatever would be a good interval

Water Displacement-40th formula uses fish oil in the recipe, known to attract bears in Alaska. Besides tending to accumulate, gum up, after a while.
