Aloha TW! I just moved back home to Washington State after living in Hawai'i the past 18 years and have noticed that it has become a shit hole. People in Washington love to slam their car doors on new trucks in parking lots. They also love to steal anything that looks nice. I just had my 3 week old squadron pro ditch lights stolen off my truck at the head of a hunting/hiking area. It's a punch to the gut when you put tons of hours and money into preparing your vehicle for an outdoor lifestyle.

I'm looking for the best security cameras I can get. Does anyone have experience with Garmin cameras? Are they the best thing out there? Are there 360 degree security cameras that anybody has tried or use? Any input would be great! I would rather not shoot a clepto POS.

    Welcome!

I agree with you. The changes in the area are sad to see. My friend had a 15yr old, 1/4mil mile Chevy broken into five times and finally stolen a couple weekends back.

You can't do much about trailheads, but garage parking is a big help.

Following this, sorry about your lights. That's the reason I never installed mine, I'd go from the roof rack. I know possible hood reflection but the higher up, I'm thinking you'll have your lights longer. I hope someone can chime in with 360 camera suggestion. And yeah...anything p....l can get you a ban, ask me how I know...or don't if you want to hang around...

Drug Scum, Tweakers, Thieves, Low Lifes, all cut from the same cloth.

I park my truck as far away from any other cars as possible. But per usual, just yesterday I parked in a spot
where there must have been 100 other open spots. I parked in the middle, far-far away from the door of the
    store I was going into.

Yea you know it, some nit-wit pulls in right next to me, and I mean within inches of the truck too. You got 99
open spaces and where do they park - right next to ya. Beats all I ever seen. I looked at the person like they were
an idiot, backed up and took another spot.

As far as the thieves go, too bad our friends Smith and Wesson can't be called upon.

Sorry to hear the lights got stolen. I bolt and double nut my hood lights with torque prevailing nuts so if your not holding the top and bottom with two wrenches, it just spins.

I was thinking about that. Does it move at all when you drive? Or does is stay in the direction you planned to keep the light?

Haha...olympia, but I'm actually leaning towards a hunter that stole them. There is a rock pit for sighting in guns and hunting areas where they were stolen. It was Saturday near dusk when hunters are coming out of the woods. Oh well...hopefully they are stupid enough to use the ditch lights in the area. They cut the wires just below the light, so it will be easy to see if they were cut and patched up.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. It is getting bad everywhere. I found obvious signs of someone doing drugs by my garage door last week. Now there is a new motion light up to deter it from happening again. The problem with a security camera is, it gives these bastards something else to steal :annoyed:

I'm searching the internet for a camera that can record ahead at your hood and back inside the cab of the truck. I also want something that uploads to a cloud, since there is no use to have a camera that uses sim cards that can be stolen.

After having someone throw a small boulder at the hood of my truck overnight and the police doing absolutely nothing and refusing to even come look at it in person I had this same problem. I decided to just eat the cost of a quality front/rear dash cam that will record 24/7 and has a feature to kill power if my battery were to fall below 12V and haven’t looked back. It really is worth the money to me and should last for the life of the truck, I’ve had it parked for 3 days without driving and when I got in it was still recording motion and hadn’t turned off from low battery voltage. I’ll put the link below. Just used an add a fuse and tapped it into the under dash fuse box.

get the OwlCam 5.0. I got it and love it. 4G reception, records 24/7, and I get a OBD port splitter so it doesn’t use the port off Amazon.

I don't know if you're familiar with reddit, but the dashcam subreddit has an amazing comprehensive guide on dashcams, with reviews.

I ended up pulling the trigger on the Vantrue N4. It has dashcam front and back in the cab plus an additional camera to go in my canopy. It normally turns off when the ignition is off, but I purchased the wiring harness that runs from the battery so the cameras will run when the ignition is on and off.
