    Hi,

I have a 2004 Tacoma ext cab that has an anti theft start sequence - engage clutch, pull high beam lever toward you then turn the key. The truck wont start. I replaced the starter thinking that was the issue. If I use a bypass relay from the ignition to the battery it will start but the starter isn't getting any juice.
I've checked fuses and the starter relay. I have power to the dash and lights. It's has manual door locks and windows.
So, I'm pretty sure I have a disconnect somewhere between the ignition switch and the starter anyone have any ideas?

I think I'd first take a look at whatever is wired into the high beam circuit for the budget antitheft.
What engine so you have? I can post the starting system diagram.

Hi thanks for the reply - it is a 4 cylinder, manual everything - transmission, door locks, windows.
When I purchased it used from the dealer in 2008, the anti theft starter sequences was already installed. My dads 2003 Tacoma had the same thing from the same dealer.

I'd definitely be looking for where they broke the starting circuit first.

    Welcome to the forum!

Call the dealer see if they have any schematics on this anti theft system. They should have your name and the VIn

It would be great if a standard kit was used rather then everyone different.

So many different places they could break the circuit . Was a relay used ?

Going to be interesting without a schematic.

    Good luck!!!
