Back in 96 - 97 I went to Antigua twice to fix broken military aircraft. I got to stay two week the first time and a week the second time. Basically I fixed the jet on day one, then it contiuoned with its mission down range from the island and picked me up on the return trip. Antigua is about 4 hours flying from Charleston.

I stayed in Jolly resort. It was all inclusive. It was great. There are two parts. A typical hotel on the beach and some villias that backs up to water ways.

The villas had a little garage for a golf cart. I took over a golf cart from the flight crew while I was there and had a blast with that thing.

The second time I went I stayed in the hotel part and that was cool too.

The resort had plenty to do and if I remember correctly there were day trips to see other stuff. Keep in mind that when you get away from the resorts the county (at the time I was there) was really poor.

Both times I stayed there was no A/C in the villa or room I stayed in, but other villas and rooms did have A/C. I could not complain since it was a free trip to me.

For what it's worth the only thing I remember paying for was renting a jet ski on the beach.

I did stay one night in another resort because we got in so late the first night. It was a huge hotel on the beach, but I cannot remember the name of it. I do remember walking by a casino that seemed like it took up one hole floor. Everybody was dress to the 9's. It looked like something out of a Bond movie. I was dragging my bags and wearing BDU's at the time.

I would say google Jolly beach and resort to check it out. Good luck and I hope this helped a little.
