Right. Although, that depends where you live, too. Vehicles don't have to be rare or desirable if they're easy. The 1995 Honda Civic was one of the most stolen vehicles for a long time. It seems more recently that the trend has shifted toward vans, though.

Geez man buy a Dodge or a Buick or a Fiat. If someone wants your truck they will take it.
Roll up with a flatbed... a few wheel dollies and two minutes later it's gone.

lol I was ignorant of this until I ordered a T4R and got an insurance quote. My car insurance company was like "yeah they send these to Nigeria and flip them for double or more what they go for here" I thought they were BSing just to charge more money but did some googling and I was floored. Wish I could go back to being blissfully ignorant lol

On my old Honda Civic and for those using "The Club" steering wheel bar, damn thieves used some sort of flash freezing chemical sprayed into the lock, then smashed it with a hammer which shattered the lock into pieces. The club came off easily... San Diego PD at time said to flip it with the lock facing the steering dash which that trick more difficult.

Thankfully now, many moons later, I have a garage in a one way in/out street and my work is on a military installation with a secured gate while I'm on work travel.

I do like the wheel lock idea though.

The only thing that truly will work is a gated or garaged vehicle with an armed guard and a German Shepard.
Everything mentioned so far won't even slow a pro down if they want it.
I live in an area where there are 10X more guns owned than people living here. We have zero theft problems.
Can you not move outside the city?

I had one of this like 30 years ago in a Honda. Parked on a busy street around 2 in the afternoon. They cut the steering wheel and took it off. They popped the ignition switch. And couldn’t turn it on because I had an ignition kill switch hidden under the dash. My keychain had a circle thingy that I had to hover over the spot before inserting the key.

Simple. Take a 50' length of anchor chain from a WWII Iowa class battleship.

Sling one end around the rear axle, attach the ends to an anchor from a Container Cargo ship. Leave the anchor at the entrance to your driveway.

On a more practical note, lock it, remove any valuables from the cab & bed, park it in a garage, keep it insured.

I do all of this at present but regretfully I do not have a garage on hand or a naval base for that matter.

    I think what I've decided on is this;
    - turn fob off (spare already off) after every trip with the truck locked. Maybe get a faraday pouch while I'm at it, what the hell, right?
    - order one of these brake locks pictured below and see how much of a PITA this is as a nightly shore and whether I can be disciplined enough to use it.
    - consider motion activated lights and a Club just to make me feel better and give thieves a little something extra to chew on.

When my 4Runner arrives I will go ham the first few weeks as I have heard way too many stories of how thieves somehow are alerted to new car sales (either through dealer or DMV informants or other means) and will often steal these vehicles days after delivery. Screw that.
