Antlers Shed Hunting

Weeeell, this morning whole we were looking for some bears we found 9 brown horns within 30 yards of the road we were on. I found 2 more laying on top of each other when I walked up a canyon, an older single up another canyon, and then a small, chalk, 5 point deer up on a ridge. Finding 13 horns when we aren’t even shed hunting is pretty decent.

This is the only picture I have because my phone was dead, and as the picture explains....



Didn’t end up going to where I either because I was tired of walking.

Cool ,both are bears? ,they look a little different,I'm not much into bears so I don't know

He’s right. First one is a Java. Measure the bear skull. Length wise from front to back. Assuming black bear from the teeth. Anything over 19in is a mature male.

 

That was 557 dressed. Skull was 21 and 7/8. Made top 100 all time in pa. The biggest one I’ve killed yet. Shot a 200 pound female years ago he dwarfs her in skull size and body.

first skull is Hog/javelina like others said second is bear. Nice find...very rare to find a bear skull unless theres a bait nearby if thats even allowed there, I dont know the rules where you are.

Forget the bear and javelina I want that coues shed...

 

Baiting in AZ is illegal. The bear I bagged years ago was estimated 13 years old and she weighed about 300 lbs. I don' remember the skull size.

I can't measure ,I left that skull in the mountains, the javelina skull too..I hunt javelina here in Az killed few Mmmm ,but I never kept the skulls I have not hunted bears

 

I love me some bear meat. Get them in the acorns and they are one of my favorite.
