Antlers Shed Hunting

My buddy and I found 6 today including 1 nice set, 43 total so far this year.

 

We only found 2 and a dead head today. Will be back out tomorrow.

 

Kind of the wrong thread but oh well, I think he’ll be decent

 

Geez us , you searching a deer farm I put a few more miles on today ,found nothing

 

Didn’t find much today. 1 shed and 1 dead head.

When I shot this one years ago his right antler was sticking out from behind a pine bough...

Walked up to it, score!
That place is now known as tweakerhorn canyon.
A much larger nontypical blacktail came from the exact same place. As well as a couple nice typicals I helped drag.

 

Same area that cactus head skull came from, buddy hit me up for my dog.

Swore he made a good hit so I didnt take my bow.
Couldnt produce his arrow so Im always skeptical if I dont see it.

Should have known better and have never not taken a weapon on a trail since.

Jumped that buck at 10ft,
Big ol war club lookin thing on one side and typical 4 antler on the other.

All I could do was call my dog off and watch him run away with an arrow sticking out his front shoulder.
Too bad nice buck.

Only one I ever found was while turkey hunting, went to jump a small creek, theres a deer jaw in the moss.

Grabbed it and it just kept coming.
It was upside down in the creek.
Score again!


I love skulls I have a bunch of them, all kinds.

School I was working at recently, hot science teacher found out I hunt and called me in to the classroom she just inherited.
Nice antlered deer skull in the entrance, thought that was it.
Was hoping she wanted to get rid of it.

She was wondering if I could id this.
Wtf no idea!

Runnin between spots I came across a lil ol lady who was road hunting. She was all flustered askin me if I saw it did I see it!!!

Calmed her down and apparently she just had a "big ol buck with CRAGGLY HORNS EVERYWHERE" run across the road just seconds before.

Been huntin that ridge ever since.

Pop and my brother had a huge nontypical along side the road at tweakerhorn canyon. Brother said it was so big pop completely lost it, locked the door, unlocked the door, locked the door, rolled the window up, the whole time my brothers hollerin get out pop get out, shoot that thing!!!!

Still checking those spots to this day.

Something about the minerals or the genetics or whatever causes it.
Ive found once you find one non typical you'll find another one day.

Dawgs doing better but hes not up to miles and miles yet.
I cant go without him Id feel terrible.

 

A little chewed on but these are the biggest I've found, and the first matching set. This would be a really nice deer for around here.

Turn those brow tines into eye guards and that was pretty much my obsession buck all bow season after the opening day meat buck.

Nothing again yesterday I’ve been skunked so far this year . Not a good sign . Maybe the mild winter has something to do with it

 

Lots of walking today . Only a carcass . Coyotes must of got the little fella !

 

Pretty neat find today! Biggest shed, biggest set and my first brown antler. Scored the set at 141” with a 16” spread. Also found 2 older sheds. Overall a great day

 

Covered over a thousand acres Plus ,been walking the woods for months now . 3 dead heads ,no sheds .
