I was wondering if anybody has pulled their cat or cats off their truck. I am looking to do this to my Tacoma but would like input from other guys first.

    Any thoughts?

The Cat is very restricting to an exhaust, and I have heard trucks without them that absolutely roar.

My goal- louder exhaust. I don't have emissions where I am from

The cat is not restrictive to exhaust flow. It will make your truck louder though and emissions or not it is illegal to remove the catalytic converter (just an FYI, do what you want).

What do you suppose it would sound like with my flowmaster 40? There are 3 cats on my truck. I would only pull 1 (the one behind the o2).

Raspy. I am not a fan of the 3.4 or most V-6s with louder exhaust. The sound just seems to get louder and certainly not better.

I would like to change my original statement about exhaust flow restriction. A catalytic converter does restrict flow SLIGHTLY, but it might be responsible for maybe a 1hp loss on a NA street engine.

I have both my cats gutted with a flowmaster 10 series. It sounds really good and is loud. Im going back friday to get one of the cats completely removed, since in 01 they started putting 2 cats on.
