37k. I had to get HVAC motor replaced, changed battery, currently in process of getting timing cover oil leak looked and replaced (noticed a small leak a week ago while changing my oil and filter, and thanks to the forum I was able to find it was a common issue.) Other than that the truck has been great!

I've been a long time lurker here at tacomaworld and this is actually my first post, I figure I'd give my 2 cents. I've had my truck for almost five years now, and I'll say that thanks to this forum and other internet resources, I've been able to do multiple mods and upgrades to the truck myself to make it stand out in a sea of tacomas.

2017 TRD Sport 2WD SB. Wanted it to be my last vehicle. But just traded it in for a 2021 TRD OR DC SB. Had a leaking timing chain cover that the dealer fixed 3 times. Only had 36k miles. It was a sad day. But I think I’m happy it happened . The new one rides a lot better.

I ordered mine about this time in 2016. Now have 67,000 miles. 4x4 Off-Road AC in super white. I kept it bone stock until I hit 35k

    The bad...
-Needle bearing had to be warranty replaced at about 10,000 and still had stock suspension
-4x4 actuator warranty replaced at 20,000
-manual sliding back glass warranty replaced at 30,000
-I drive like a grandpa and the Kevlar goodyears wore out before 30k
-I’ve had every transmission tsb applied and still shifted goofy especially in cruise. The wacky shifting of the truck was my chief complaint. Toyota really missed their mark in my opinion.

    The good...
-Super comfortable, capable, and practical midsize truck
-The “smart” transmission was educated with OV Tune and now drives like it should have from the factory.
-There are many mods and options to make the truck how you want it.
-I have no plans to part ways with my truck and plan to maintain it and run it till it is dead. If it were to be wrecked or stolen, I would want to order another just like it. Meets my needs and makes me happy.

September of 2015 build date. Around 160k miles currently.

Was assembled in the San Antonio factory in Texas

The most expensive upfront “repair” has been the battery, however I believe lasting nearly six years is pretty good.

    Replaced dead battery at ~130k

Replaced the original plastic oil filter housing with metal part.

Retorqued and filled rear differential (had recall leak)

Original brakes, however they are glazed and have hot spots in the rotors (towed trailers without a brake controller)

The pins that go through the brake pads also elongated the holes in the pads over time, this causes an occasional *clunk* when braking.

Head unit randomly turned off twice in one day, and then never did it again

Gauge cluster used to lag badly, as in RPMS wouldn’t match engine, and speed would still say twenty or so when I had stopped, that also fixed itself.

Tailgate bushing failed a few weeks ago, the one for our trucks isn’t available however a member here 3D prints them, so I ordered one from him.

I’ve moded the truck, but other than the battery, and removing drain plugs, I haven’t HAD to touch a wrench to fix anything, it’s been beyond reliable.

I have a 2017 V6 Off Road, DCSB with 6 speed manual transmission. I bought it brand new in mid-March 2017. Currently have 64,8xx miles on it. Bone stock except I finally replaced the OEM Goodyear [junk] tires with Big O BigFoot A/T's after 48K miles and 2 1/2 years. My wife and I went on a Yellowstone NP - southern Utah Zion/Bryce NP trip last summer, total of about 2800 miles. Other than that, just local driving for work or weekend day trips within a couple hundred miles of home. Zero issues with the truck itself (OEM tires were not Toyota brand). Only downside I have is the fuel economy isn't what I would like. Ever since this pandemic lock down began in March 2020 and I have been working from home - no long commute to work every day, my MPG has dropped noticibly. I get right around 19 MPG per tankful when I had a combination of work commute / local errands. But now that it's just local only, my MPG has dropped to barely 16.0 MPG/tank full.

Stock I would say at the most I got around 16-18 MPG. With my current lift and tire setup I’m averaging 10-12.....

2016 DCLB limited, 88k kilometres and a ton of cash into it. Been good other than motor pulled twice due to oil leaks and the 4x4 actuator needed to be pulled, soldered and resealed. Taken me from the Canadian prairie flatlands to Moab and ouray, out west to the wet coast and moved me to the Canadian Rockies. I still love my truck everyday, would like to supercharge it someday

Dealer couldn’t recreate the whistling for me, so I asked sternly if they would call me when the conditions were right, and to maintain the conditions until I arrived. They went ahead and ordered the new seals and installed them the next week. (It actually required an extra visit, they ordered double cab and not access cab)

Same... I’m at 63k on a 11/15 build. $3 tube of silicone and new battery/tires is all I’ve done

February 2016, 31k. No major issues, just a couple of whistling TSBs taken care of. Transmission is strange, been considering OVTune. Perpetual rattle in passenger dash solved with wedged cardboard.

2016 OR bought in Jan. 2016. Currently 74K miles and only repair was the instrument panel TSB. Original brakes and battery, which I'll probably replace next fall. On 3rd set of tires as I tend to replace them at 6/32 before winter since I drive on snow frequently here in No. Colo. Only mod is a RCI skid plate. Very happy so far.

    23k miles.

    (+) It looks great
(+) Love the bumper & lift I added
    (+) It's been completely reliable
(+) Other than lack of power and horrific shifting it's a joy to drive and has served us well.

(-) Anemic. Shift-Pro helps. Considering OVTune.
(-) Leather on original steering wheel was pulling up. They replaced it with a steering wheel from a 2018. It has buttons the car doesn't have functions for.
(-) I just had to pay $1300 to the Stealer to replace the bed light gasket and address the mold in the interior caused by a KNOWN DEFECT THAT WAS DOCUMENTED IN 2018 BUT NOT COMMUNICATED TO CUSTOMERS:

Currently has just shy of 60k. Original owner, zero issues ( mechanical issues anyway. Damn factory tune was utter trash. Get ovtune. Your welcome)

I got my 2016 ORDC in October of 2015. 70K or so miles and no major issues. Replaced the original battery last year after it died on me a few time after leaving work during winter. The good-years it came with lasted to almost 60K and I got Falken Wildpeaks AT/3s put on in the fall of last year. Went with the 265/75/16s also. The area where my interior roof panel attaches to the side of the sunroof on the drivers side will not stay attached. It used to bother me, and I'm sure it would be an easy fix, but I have just ignored it long enough that it doesn't even enter my mind most days anymore. There was a piece of rubber in the inside of the sunroof channel on the right side I had to have replaced also. Recently the gas door has become an issue. I cant figure out exactly what has gone wrong with it but I have to kinda push it down as I shut it to get it to latch. I have tried to gently "adjust" it with some pressure but it has been of no use.

It is a great truck and I bought it planning on having it around for 20 years. When I may let it go I am thinking about giving it to my son who is 10mos old as of writing this when he is able to drive if he would want it.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
82,000 miles in and mine is amazing. I brought it in for the crank sensor recall as a precautionary measure and had the frame recall work done on it to ensure I could get it replaced one day if needed. That's it. It get's driven and used pretty hard daily, has towed some pretty impressive weight (6500 pound excavator on a 2000 pound trailer), lots and lots of trees, and does very well in trails and sand dunes. I LOVE my 2016 TRD ORSB.
