What was the consensus, are they taller than normal 285's?

They are a bit taller than 285s, but definitely not 34" tall.

That's correct. I'm measuring 33.25" across the center line/hub on mine. They are also mounted to a stock TRD Sport wheel. So take into account the width of the wheel you'll be mounting to. If you mount to a wider wheel it will reduce the circumference a little.

The net of it though is they are BAD ASS! I didn't need some super wide tire combo since I don't typically run in deep mud or sand dunes. This tire was the perfect choice.

Yeah mine came in at 33" or a bit more. Definitely going to keep this tire size for remainder of owning this truck.

I've been on these for about 6 months now and I love them. I think they're the perfect size, but they definitely required more trimming compared to the 255/80R17 ST MAXX I was running previously. I had to take a heat gun and some zip-ties to my fender liners to get them out of the way, and I still rub hard while fully stuffed. I think the fact I'm running LR UCA's is the only thing saving me from having to do the CMC. Although I'll probably do the CMC this year anyways for a little peace of mind.

    The SEMA TRD wheels.

Here is the moment I had them rubbing. You can hear the tire grinding up into the fender, and I felt it in the floor of the cab. Not sure what to do about it yet.

    And a 34x10.50R17 and a 285/75R17. Which is over $50 a tire less.

Yes and the 285/75R17 versus the 285/75R16 is a big difference. More than an inch.

How the hell? The 285/75/17 shouldn't be bigger. I mean, the 34 isn't QUITE 34 but it's at least close. That would make the 285 BIGGER than 34" which it's not supposed to be. That's odd.

According to BFG's tape measure the 34x10.50R17 is 33.5" and the 285/75R17 is 33.9". By my tape measure they are 33" and 33 3/8" respectively.

Hey guys, currently getting these tires mounted as we speak, but the shop is quite hesitant that there is going to be too much rubbing, however I have assured them that after a proper alignment it should be fine. Should I assume I will need to take it in for a CMC after I get these back? 2008 Doublecab, LR UCA, Bilstein 5100's with OME 885 coils.

With almost 4 degrees of caster I have had no need for the CMC - and I've stuffed them pretty hard. I did however have to do a lot of 'molding' to the fender liners, and cut some plastic from the fender corners.

    LR UCA's.

Got my truck back today after a lengthy alignment. They had to max out the caster on my upper control arms to get them to fit, and right now they just barely clear at full lock. Haven't decided whether or not to get the CMC done yet. So far driving on the road I have had no rubbing. Going to try to take it out this weekend and see how she does off road.
