My wife had a '12 Pathfinder and wished they still made them like that. She has a 4Runner now, but liked the Pathfinder better. It just got old and she wanted a newer car.

I rented a Frontier and wondered who buys that junk. I'm not saying that because I own a Toyota, but the interior reminded me of something circa 1995. Seats were not comfortable. Underwhelming performance. Unimpressive steering. I have a Armada rental now. If they shared a little love from that, it might be a decent truck.

Had a Frontier as a long term company rental truck for 3 plus years. I went through 4-5 as I would have to turn the truck back in and get another when it hit xxx number of miles.

Never any mechanical issues, but very archaic. The seat gave me a backache and the turning was similar to a cruise ship. It’s about as basic as you can get in a mid size truck. I now have a Ford Ranger rental car and it’s SO much better to drive. Quiet, powerful and way better ergonomically.

Nissan sold almost 80,000 Frontiers in 2018. Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke.

I rented a Frontier and was so impressed with the engine I bought a 350Z vqhr, seriously.

I completely agree that auto journalists are clueless WRT the Frontier. The truck fills an important niche in the segment for those seeking something capable, reliable, affordable, and no frills. It's like the flip phone of the midsize truck market.

It's the same complaint I have about journalists and the 370Z, which, like the Frontier, is also long in the tooth, but still fun as hell to drive and relatively cheap. There's absolutely nothing wrong with either of these vehicles.

The Frontier sells because it is cheap. I recently bought a 2019 TRD OR AC. I could have bought a Frontier SV 4x4 for $10K less.

But you couldn't have bought the PRO 4X for 10k less. That's probably a better comparison point.

IMO and the examples I see in the south east... a 10 year old Nissan hasn't got nearly the wear and tear integrity at 10 year old Toyota has. Older Frontiers, Titans, Xterras all look beaten and worn next to their Toyota counterparts

had an 01 nissan xterra with the 3.3l v6.. put 236k miles on the truck before trading it in. It was simple and reliable. nothing about it was exceptional. build quality and materials were lower quality than i expected

I wouldn't necessarily expect an all new Frontier next year as they have been saying "next year" for the past several years.

Better dealer discounts? Starting MSRP is only a few thousand less for the Pro 4X vs the TRD Off-road.

Yep, Frontiers are for those that are too cheap to pay the Tacoma premium (there, I said it :D)

I had an 01 Xterra too, 5-spd manual. Not as many miles on mine, but damn I miss that truck

Nissan had some great commercials for it back in the day.

you have not seen my 2007 xterra 4x4 s model then. it looks brand new. drives brand new. inside looks brand new.... underneath looks brand new. that's due to my not abusing it and being ocd about it probably. Any car needs to be maintained. I can only hope my 19 taco OR 4x4 will be as reliable and solid as my xterra has been. I stil lhave her, and she was bought new by me in december 2006. 145k on the clock.
