I watched the two latest TFL videos, and it's nice refresh, but as always, it already feels a few years old IMHO. I also have concerns with hybrids and turbos. Plus, I love my Tacoma and I'm keeping if for at least another 15 years being enough truck as it is.

I have been yes. This is due to mainly bedsize as well as interior size for my GF and 2 large (60lbs) dogs. Looking to possibly get a 6.5 crewmax w/ off-road package as well as the factory 3" lift, probably non-hybrid. I also have an order pending for an Ovrlnd camper which is due around March - the extra bed space (width as well as length) would be really nice.

I do keep going back and forth as well, especially when I effortlessly pull into a tight parking spot with the current 5' taco. I even thought about putting a Norweld flat bed on the taco as well, but even that isn't ideal because I don't have the 6' bed/frame to make it worth-while. All signs point to the tundra.

I think the new pro tundra will be no less than 65-68k.

I agree with the looks of the tundra, especially the front. Maybe it will look better in person?

When 3rd gen taco came out, to me the front end looked ridiculous with that positive stock offset wheels. I wasn’t on TW back then but from what I’ve read, that’s what most folks thought as well.

Now I honestly think it’s the best looking midsize truck ever made, so do a lot of others.

Exactly, apparently they have been testing the new Land Cruiser in Australia since 2015. Other domestic manufacturers go after the power numbers which requires them to keep updating engines without testing them for too long.

Yup, need something to tow the Jeep.

Not sure why everyone thinks the Tundra is going to be so expensive. Toyota currently sells the Tundra and when a new generation comes out it's not that much more expensive. New Tundra will sell between $36k-$52k.

Definitely yes for me, will be trading in my 18 AC for a 22 or 23 Double cab. I've been wanting a Tundra for the bigger space and capability and the new one is a vast improvement in so many ways. Really don't understand the whole "but no V8!!" I'll take higher performance (at low RPM) and better mpg anyday. Toyota has the reputation for reliability so no reason to expect that to change.

My biggest gripe is that you can't get the hybrid in an SR5 trim.. I've got zero interest in the Pro or expensive chromed out luxury trims.

I wonder if Toyota will eventually trickle down the hybrid tech to the less expensive models? Although I can see the attraction of initially packaging the high performance draw of the hybrid with profitable heavily optioned models. But once that luxury truck buyer market has been met, up selling the potential SR5 buyer to a SR5 hybrid also makes sense. It just might take a while.

For sure, that was on my mind. But we'll have to see what the driving reports and pricing turns out to be. Maybe that hybrid will be worth the price jump up...

I predict this will be the last hurrah for the ICE powered Tundra. To keep development costs down Toyota snatched the existing V6 powertrain from the Lexus LS500 but did end up re-engineering and strengthening the differential and transfer case to handle the increased power. The brand new TNGA chassis was developed with a BEV powertrain in mind and it will accept a large battery pack and electric motors.

The LS500 non-hybrid fuel mileage gives an indication of predicted fuel mileage for the Tundra. The official EPA numbers will be coming out this month. The increased fuel mileage may shut up those who wanted a V8 in the 2022 Tundra. I am expecting a 40% increase in fuel economy from the 2021 V8 numbers.

Not at all. When I saw the leaked images of the new Tundra is when I decided to buy my Tacoma.

Which will bring it in line with current Tacoma numbers of 20 average.
Would be nice to see 25 average but I’m not holding my breath on that.

I ended up going with a 2018 Titan XD when we decided to add a baby to the family, might trade into the new Tundra when the Titan's warranty expires in Feb 2023 or 45k miles. Depends on the pricing for the configuration I want.

Agree. Then some owners will add 20lb heavier 37s and biatch about the 17mpg. : )

Yea that’s likely. Real world will be key. Somehow most late model cars and trucks are over rated.
