    Just got a used 03 4 door PreRunner Limited. Tunes from stock radio are nothing to brag about. Wondering if any other 03 or other year Tacoma or 4Runners came with a upgraded radio pkg. that will fit my truck. Can go to Best Buy or another box store for aftermarket. But would like to keep stock dash look as much as possible. Also would changing speakers out to something different help with factory radio sound, without using a aftermarket amp. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

    all 2003 tacomas came with the same factory radio, I bought my aftermarket alpine deck from best buy and it improved the quality immensely. i also had 4 infinity door speakers installed

    OP,

    1st: Your username is awesome;

    2nd: Check out crutchfield...I think they throw in a wire harness (you'll have to buy one at BB); and,

    3rd: Kansas TW members are getting ready to meet up...here's the link if you're interested.

    View the build. Too much to list.
    The stock speakers are pretty good with a aftermarket head unit. You will have to invest in one to get good tunes.

    You could always pick up a Scion radio. You will need to trim the bezal a little but it's plug and play. Will sound alot better than the stock radio. Here's a link the second picture is the one I had in my 03.

    Thanks for the replies. I figured there was just 1 basic radio pkg. for that year. Will put a new system on Christmas Wish List. Just got new tires, front end alignment, fluids all changed, plugs, put on a reciever hitch and wiring, new headlight bulbs, ordered 3 tiny climate controll bulbs from Toyota for $25.00. I think I better stop for awhile. Id hate to ask the wife to take on a second job. LOL bkeith747 Hey thanks for the link, sounds like some good ol Kansas guys around for sure. Im north of Lawrence, about 30 miles from NE, MO, IA border. Summer pretty booked up right now, but a get together sometime with RIBS involved sounds great. Take Care

    Doubletaco, thanks for the info. Makes a nice factory looking system, all but the scion name of course. How did you get the Tacoma display in the radio? Also what color display did it come with? My tacoma display is red. Thanks.

    You can program the radio to say anything you want when it first powers on. It's a ten color display and the orange matches pretty well. You can pick these radios up cheap and they look stock and sound good. I had one in my 09 but couldn't get dash kit to fit very well so I put the stock one back in.

    Hate to drum up an old thread, but are there any other stock radios that can be fitted for tacos besides Scion radios?

    Kinda like the stock look of radios. Plus, a stock radio probably has less chance of getting ripped out of my truck, got to love living in Milwaukee.
