Debated removing this for a few years. Its a very simple thing to do but i figured I've looked at enough Youtube vids on the subject i might see what the opinions are from you rowdy bunch as well on the topic. I Personally think the truck looks better without it. More "aggressive" so to speak.

I know i had someone tell me that after they removed theirs they had an annoying "Whistling sound" show up when driving at highway speed. Kind of like when someome blows across a bottle top.

I say take it off and don't look back. I haven't noticed any difference whatsoever since taking mine off, aside from it looking much better.

I heard that if you take it off your credit score drops by 100pts and it increases your risk of testicular cancer.

Sure, I could be wrong, but do you really want to risk it? I think not!

So a 750 credit score instead of my 850 and my testicles at this stage might as well be sparkly Christmas balls anyways, since they are Purely for decoration .

I can live with that. :D:luvya:

I didn't have mine on long enough to know if there was any difference, but I do know that I would have messed it up in short order if I left it on.

I kept it thinking that I'd slap it on for a long road trip, and haven't even done that. Time for the recycling bin.

The only problems I have is figuring out what to do with it after I take it off. I buried mine in the back yard but had to dig it up a few months later because the poltergeists of former automotive engineers wouldn't leave me alone. I tried throwing it away but like an overly attached kitten it kept coming back. I don't know how. So it's sat in my garage for three years, stubbornly insulting me with it's presence.

Still worth it. It's not going back on the truck.

Seriously, all TRD OR and TRD PRO's do not have them even though it's the exact same truck. No whistling.Or wistleing. Or wissel. Or whistle.

Honestly, I think it’s more aesthetics than engineering.

I kept mine for 4 and ½ years. Didn't matter how hard I hit speed bumps or snow drifts, I couldn't remove it "by accident". I finally removed it to make room while I lifted the truck... wouldn't you know of it.. I forgot to put it back on. With it removed, it think it helps put the focus on what's important, The Skewp!!! I have since installed a fake TRD skid plate to go with the fake off-road stance. My truck is as much of a poser as I am now! I have not experienced any issues removing it.

I did a bit of research and it does aid in aerodynamics by reducing the air pressure underneath the truck, thereby preventing lift. This is why nascar vehicles are so low to the ground. It really only helps on highway speeds.

Does it make a big difference in the real world, probably not, but every bit helps when gas is between $4- $5/gallon.

My truck wassails. It annoys the neighbors, they always feel obligated to feed it spiced cider until it stops.

The only front end whistling issue I’ve seen was for older 3rd gens. It was corrected by a tsb that put rubber plugs in a hand full of the holes in the bottom of the lower control arms.
