Thought Id see if anyone has connections for an emergency jump starter and how many people would actually be interested in one. Not sure if this is the right place to ask.

After having my battery die without notice and not having a jump starter battery or car I hate calling a tow truck for such things. This made me look into these portable jump starter. I imagine most people should have one of these especially when you are offroading. I like the compactness of the new ones.

So anyone interested or has any connections to offer a group buy on something like this?

@ramonortiz55 just did one for the steaming hot pile of crap Noco brand battery packs.

I don't imagine he's interested in doing another..

I bought a couple of those piles but haven't needed to use them. Are there better options or is the whole concept of lithium ion packs a junk idea?

There are better options that are similar, Noco is just one I've seen to be cheap chinese crap shrouded in fancy plastics.

a lot of people liked them, the only way the vendor was able to hook us up w a deal is by ordering a pallet of them and shipping them to us VS them being dropped shipped.

the wait time is about two weeks after everyone pays.

at the moment, i dont want to go thru that again.

    Hit me up in April.

I should've listened to the guy in the video that was referenced in that thread, but I think I was too busy laughing. He's hilarious!

He's a fun watch, which is nice.. without his humor (and with all of his info) it'd otherwise be way less entertaining.

It's not the pack I use, but supposed to be a nice, quality unit.

They're all from China, I'm sure.. so there is a bit of an X factor.

I bought my pack from a family friend who is in sales and gave me a deal, otherwise I'd have gone with the XP10.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
    They're all the same.

In case you were curious. It also doesn't take all kinds of hitech shmoo in there. It's a battery that puts out high amperage to turn the motor over. A lot better than having to ask some numbnuts in a parking lot to hook up to their vehicle. So what if the marketing wank on the box doesn't do what it says. I don't need 1000 amps at 12 volts. I need it to start the truck. My truck. Not a full size size tractor-trailer. Not an M1 Abrams. Ya'll act like anything is made in the U.S. or "built to last" now-a-days.

Don't get me wrong, I love AvE like the next guy, but his idea of a good tool is $1000 hardware from the likes of Hilti. You aren't starting trucks all day long with it, just like you aren't boring for coal or other precious metals. Get what works and get over it.

Because he's basing things off of industry.

He has no qualms calling a Ridgid a nice tool when it is, and it's home grade.. so I don't agree with that aspect.

Most things made in the US are shit, IMO. Most things made are shit, actually. Global consumerism tends to do that.

Generally agree with you though. <3

I have been looking online for one lately, don't know much about the specs, etc. Just want to be able to jump start battery. There seems to be a lot of mixed reviews in general from all manufacturers, personally I don't want to pay more than what a could buy a new battery for. I did just see this one at costco for $60. Company is Winkles, here is their link-http://winplus.com/usa/products/car-jump-start-portable-power-bank/. Nice thing about this one is the Costco guarantee, if it craps out in 6 months or 2 years I can return. Based on reviews in general this guarantee is a big seller for me. Maybe someone that know something about these could comment on this particular one??

I picked this one up at Costco when it was on sale for $50. Used it a few weeks ago to jump start a 4cyl Hyundai. Holds a charge pretty well but it's something that you need to keep an eye on.
