Times are different now. We are lucky to get 7 inches on average a year here.

This is the absolute best stuff I've found to restore trim. I used it on the, almost white, running boards, and mirrors, on a 13 year old Escape. They looked like they just came from factory when I was done with them.

A small bottle will last forever.

Then treat with 303 every couple months.

    All stock, baby!
Just to be clear, are you saying that you looked at the truck one day and the flare was FINE, then again the next day and it was as shown in the photos? The answer is no, that can't happen due solely to UV radiation; it takes a long time for this type of automotive plastic to degrade like that. All of my cars have the graying effect of the black trim where they get significant time in the sun. That's what the other replies are getting at, some sort of UV protectant/black restorer is how we deal with it.

The lines on your flares are a bit different than the usual fade to gray, but I'd venture a guess it might have something to do with how they were manufactured causing the UV to highlight along those straight-looking lines.

That’s one tree stump of a pattern ya got here on that plastic trim. Plastic trim restorer/conditioner should clean it right up & protect from the California UV rays. Apply every other wash.

Paint in black trim paint and forget about it.

It's a shed with paperwork in it, and the paperwork is against the window so could be that.

It also warpedthe plastic so now it doesn't sit against the truck, which bothers me more than the stripes.

At a maximum it was three or four days because I was just out there looking at that flare for something else. It seemed to happen on the Jeep almost overnight as well. At first I blamed the gardener and thought he might have hit it with something.

The flares were in perfect shape prior to this, that means I would have to paint the rest of them too.

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
It's abnormal but definitely possible the sun could do that from reflection.

I have a neighbor that had a window in an unused room that was blocked from the inside. Refractive rays from the sun converged on a wooden fence 5 feet away and lit the bitch on fire and it burned down. :bananadead:

I inspect homes for a living, and have seen vinyl siding warped big time, from reflective sunlight.

Having the grill too close, also....

I use this on tires, dash and any plastic trim. My wife's SUV is loaded with black plastic trim and this is the only thing that makes them look good. This stuff will last at least 3 car washes (by hand) and her daily rally to work. I've never tried their spay, so I can't comment on it, but this stuff is really good

It was fairly sunny again today and I checked, but it looks like there is zero glare hitting the truck.

Is there another factor, at times, which could play a part in it? Like another vehicle sometimes parked somewhere nearby which could be he sometimes potential 'source' of the reflection?

I figure I would update this for the hive mine to see what's going on. This is the shed and window next to the truck, and where it's parked in relation to the water heater. I was thinking maybe the reflection is coming from the corrugated steel roof of the shed. I also checked the last few days and I don't see any kind of reflection hitting the truck.

The very slow, precise and cautious application of a heat gun can restore mungulated polymer bits.

    (…it can also destroy them)

Funny, I was using one today just to try in straighten up the bent part a bit, but was much too scared to try and take out those lines.
