Ha, I think he meant the notes of the roasted coffee. Not added flavor.
Harrar region is known for the blueberry notes.
My roaster is very close. In the shed in the back of the cabin. :)

This^^^. I don't do flavored coffee either. It was just so obviously blueberry in taste, yet there was nothing added to it - natural flavor of the beans.

Fresh ground beans make the coffee so much better! Now get yourself some day old roasted beans and now you’re talkin!
My buddy roasted me a batch Saturday night. Had a cup this morning. So good.

If you want fresh beans check out happymugcoffee.com they roast beans the night before and ship out next day.

I’ve heard good things. Haven’t ordered from them yet. I’ve got to go through a bunch of beans I already have and then I’m going to order a couple bags from them. Seems reasonably priced too.

Ditto on the BRCC. Also highly recommend ceramic burr grinder and a pour over. If traveling, the only substitute is a Clover brew from Starbucks.

Ditch the shitty black rifle. I just got my first batch in from Happy Mug and it’s pretty damn good. I placed the order on the 26th, they roasted and shipped on the 27th, and it was delivered the 1st. Super fresh, roasted coffee. Good price. I think most of their bags are $11 and a standard $3 shipping. I got 2 bags, one was a seasonal single origin from Bali, and another espresso blend.

Nope this was my first time ordering. I got the Bali Island under special mug for pour over (these are their seasonal bags I believe) and the Bigfoot Espresso Blend for espresso. Both taste great. I made the Bali yesterday and did the Bigfoot today, I made espresso for myself and a pour over of it to compare flavor profiles for my girlfriend. I’m definitely ordering all my coffee from them from now on

I've been trying to find a decent bag of beans to make good coffee. I got a good burr grinder and grind beans right before I pour over every morning. I went through most of the offerings from Peete's, but nothing really tasted good (Major Dick was decent), and Starbucks... well no surprise all were bad.

I'm currently on Koffee Kult dark roast and am not impressed. It had good reviews and claims to be fresh roasted, however when the bag arrived the date was "best used by" and not the roast date. Best used by was about 12 months from now! Low acidity, good, but low flavor as well. Not good.

You guys convinced me to try Happy Mug and I just ordered a bag of Strong and Gentle Bear. There aren't very many reviews for most of the coffees- fingers crossed!

There is a long list of coffees (roasted or unroasted) to try before giving up.
You can start sorting the huge list by finding what you prefer.
If not, you are shooting blind.

Light, medium, dark, or darker roast.
African, Central or South America, Pacific, and on and on.
    That can be a start.

I would not judge a company as bad, if you tried one coffee and did not like it.
    (Except for Starbucks :) )

I roasted some Ethiopian Natural Gesha last week. (The original source of Gesha is Ethiopia) I shared with a friend. He said it was fruitier than he is used to. I told him "It is the seed from a fruit". Later in the week he said it was really good, and enjoyed it. What this says is maybe you need to open your mind to what good coffee is. Or not, simply enjoy good roast, and good brew.

I remember my dad asked my mom if the coffee was good, he did not know. If mom said that it is not good, he added creamer. :)

If there was one good coffee, then everybody would be drinking it.

Personally I have recently started liking American beans when done light. new to me, so I am still open minded.

    Ken in NC
This week ... Kenya Othaya Peaberry roasted to 406° F in (I think) 10:15 minutes. Excellent.
    I got it from a club/group purchase.
