Right - upon a lot of youtube video's I've discovered 18 grams of grind is what I want. I was using 18-20 grams of bean... but it's the grind that matters.

Went through about half a pound of various grind levels and amounts - I'll be up all night LOL.

Thankfully temps will be mid-70's tomorrow so I can roast some more beans -

Fantastic. It was easy to dial in and is a piece of cake to maintain. I back flush regularly and once a month disassemble the group head (1 phillips screw and two 5mm allen bolts) to soak clean. Built quality is excellent. Get a decent grinder to maintain consistency.

I started a subscription through Craft Coffee that has been awesome. Freshly roasted beans at the same price as the grocery store shipped to your door. They have some higher-end single origin coffees too if you are feeling fancy.

I still prefer drip coffee, so we have a Fellow grinder and a Technivorm brewer at home. I have become a coffee snob for sure, but life is too short to drink bad coffee.

    I concur, I'm a bit of a snob myself.

I'm not a wealthy person but I eat very well, and I drink the finest coffee I can afford.

For me that means buying raw beans and roasting my own to the level I like.
It's cheaper and better and fresher than anything you can get at any store.

I wait a few days and run it through my Breville Barista Express -

    I live for it.

What does your at-home roasting setup look like? Not sure I want to bite that bullet. :)

It's not that big of a deal - this is the SR500 ( discontinued ) that I use. I can roast enough per batch to last me about a week.
The newer models have a bit of a bigger chamber so you can roast a little more.

It's not a difficult process at all, but it takes a few tries to get it right.

Takes about 10-12 minutes to roast a batch - it's all about the temp - gotta keep the temp continually rising and at some point ( first-crack )
the rise needs to 'relax' but not drop, then rapidly rise up again. I modified my unit and drilled a hole in the top and put a temp-probe in the
chamber so I can monitor the temps.

Where do you get your green beans? I'm considering taking the next step and giving roasting a try.

I just bought a couple of pounds of Jikawa Natural from Papua New Guinea from my local roaster. Reviews talk of strong fruit flavour (pineapple).

Too fruity and funky flavoured for me.

I visited a coffee producer in the Sierra Meastra mountains of Cuba that was founded by French fleeing the Haitian Revolution in the 1790's.

I’m no coffee expert but my 2 favorite methods are an Aeropress and a Moka pot…..with freshly ground beans (burr grinder) of course…

I've been really impressed with this bean. Very forgiving roast and I went through 3 separate 1 pound bags before
buying a 3 pound bag and it's excellent. I roast this to about 30 seconds past second crack, tag it and bag it for 3 days
before running it through my Breville Barista Express and the result in all my cooks has been an excellent smoooooth drink.

I suspect my quest for the perfect bean is over, I'm settling on this bean.

I'd take it to second crack but my stupid roaster just won't get hot enough.

Oh, I get these from Coffee Bean Corral.... good prices, fabulous quality and delivery is usually a day earlier than predicted.

So I heard of this new fad going around called Dutch bros. Someone compared it to like when jeep gets Dana 44’s and 40’s. Tried it myself and it ain’t bad at all.
