any comparable tweeters to the subaru drop ins?

    Depends, really. Are you more interested in the drop-in aspect, or the sound-good aspect.

    As far as I know, there are none that won't just drop in without modifying or using an adapter. There are tweeters for sale on crutchfield that are of higher quality though. Speculation/opinion: I dont think the nicer tweeters are going to get a significant bang-for-buck return compared to the subarus. You are hitting a couple of walls there due to ambient cabin noise and physical size of the cone.

    If you prefer an aluminum dome

    Many more options open up if you're going behind an existing grille or are going to make something custom

    Depends on your budget really, and the effort you want to put in. All you need is the tweeter mount and tweeter harness. The tweeter depends on what you want. I’ll post pics of what I’m using.
