I am well aware of the fact that we are dealing with trucks not "muscle cars", but as an old "gear head", I'd like to know if anyone has information on the comparison of 0 to 60 times of second to third generation V-6 automatic Tacomas?

Good thing you put that disclaimer, because all the " its a truck" trolls will come out of their caves and say "its a truck not a race car".

Gotta be honest, their assesment of the 2wd at 6.8....no, just no, feels like 8.

I have a 2wd limited, it shouldn't be much different than their tested sr5......the same magazine tested the 2005 acura TL (I used to own one back in 2005) at 6.9 and it sure as shit wasn't slower than the truck...lol

I just tested mine for shits and giggles, 8.13 0-60, of course that's my finger on a stop watch, so not the same testing stringency as the magazines. From the point I push the pedal is when I started the timer, which is probably the biggest difference in time versus a real test would probably start the timer from when the truck started moving..... But it's a start.

3rd gen is a smidge slower than the 2nd gen. Probably because low-end torque is less on the 3.5L.

if I had stood on the brake, added the gas, then let off the brake it would probably have significantly improved the time.

Data is all over the map. I tried compiling some of it here:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2gr-fks-in-tacoma-is-not-slow-data.402121/

2nd Gen is in the far right column in the top section. I pasted the stuff from the O-60 site in there, as well as some other acceleration/power related things I have been able to find.

Of note, the 3rd gen crushes the 2nd gen in TFL's IKE Gaunlet towing test by 44 seconds...

You would be at a severe disadvantage with the short little red legs and giant claws. You do have a winning smile though.

Search TFL truck they have a little 1st vs 2nd vs 3rd comparo they just posted. I'm on my phone so difficult to post. (Some one please post)

Anyway the 2nd gen easily smoked the 3rd. And even an EC 5-speed 4x4 1st gen V6 beat it by a nose. Although a DC 4x4 1st gen would be slower for sure.

Imagine if the dual vvti 1gr was in the 2015. Seatbelt Mike Swears would have to quit.
