Nothing. Next best thing, (hoping protocol is okay with it) is to call SimiValley Toyota in Simi Valley, CA. Perhaps someone there can help you.

How bout yourself? Deep inside you. Do you know what it’s like to eat chemo in the morning, afternoon, and evening not knowing what tomorrow was going to bring?

I lost many to cancer. It’s a part of life.

    And so is tuning.

    Same here
Same here losing both parents to strokes. I've busted many bones, but nothing compared to the stroke i suffered at 60. Yeah its part of life for some....but what the hell does any of this have to do with tuning?

I agree, what does it have to do with tuning? This cat came in blazing saddles because I used the word “tune?”

Im just trying to get folk to do this “update” so that they can be happy with their Tacoma. I’m sharing what I’m experiencing. Thasit.

Supposedly the dealer did the latest tsb tune to my truck before the time of delivery. The truck performed pretty wonky all the 160 miles i drove it home, but as more miles piled on every day it got way better. Every tacoma if a 3.5 auto needs this done before giving up on their truck.

My 2022 SR5 3.5L was built in May 2022, about 9 days before I picked it up. The transmission was a disappointment. Serious gear hunting, an almost non-existent 3rd gear, and shifting was happening way too soon in the rev range. I owned a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Pentastar 3.6L V6; specs very comparable to the 3.5L Tacoma---but totally different driving experience. As I said earlier, I am one of the "girls" that found ECT pretty much got the Tacoma right where it needed to be. Higher shift RPM's, and gear hunting is gone. You can take that for what it's worth, just thought I'd pass it on. The Tacoma is built by default, in "ECO" mode----UNLESS you have a quality tune; that's just common sense. I may get a tune later, but right now I'm pleased with the performance using ECT mode.

In defense of the Tacoma, the Mercedes/Chrysler 8 and 10 speed transmissions are STELLAR. I experienced both in my Grand Cherokee and my 2018 Hemi Charger R/T.

Btw…now I see why you folks with 2022’s are confused. This has the lethargic response too!!! It does not act like my truck with the new tune. Man, the whole drive up here was worthless. Looks like they are putting the old tune in the 22’s.

Your 2022 sounds the same as my 2020 sr5 when new new no miles. I wonder what i got into on the drive home with this truck. Took a few weeks, and it slowly straightened out. Today its the best toyota pickup i've owned. I think one has to refrain from using the ECT, or S modes till fully broken it. This screws up the learning process of the transmission to your driving habits. It'll likely adapt to the ECT mode, and function worse when you flip over to the D mode. I never used ECT with an empty truck when i broke my sr5 in. Sill don't.

    More power V8
    V6 is well a V6
Add more weight still a V6
This reminds me of the people that move in by the airport flight path and then complain about the aircraft. Do your research find out what you need for your needs and go get it. Otherwise if you're stuck with what you have then live with it or buy something else. The vitriol and mock hate is old.

Man... I never use the ECT. I drive mostly highway, up/down mountains, only have 4wd daily driver due to snow on the mountains, even the roads dirt are 2wd. I tried the ECT on when the truck was new, didn't notice any difference so I looked up in the manual what it was supposed to do and it had no substantial explanation so I just ignore it now. A gimmick is all it is as far as I'm concerned, another placebo for people who've never run a carbureted 4 banger and don't think a v6 has enough power.

But to each their own.... what I like in trucks is what I like, everyone gets to choose what they like.

it's not a placebo. it's a tow/haul mode. there's nothing gimmicky about it, it just changes the shift points. not sure what your problem is with ECT mode. just because you ignore it's function doesn't mean it doesn't have a purpose.
