    $30 for the Rally Armor universals. Much shorter and more flexible. Unless its all about aesthetics and you dont like flaps at all.

    Mud flaps up front definitely helps to keep the rocks and spray off your rocker panels and lower doors. I took the front flaps off my truck and noticed audibly rocks hitting the truck. I replaced the originals with Husky brand flaps and I don't hear the pings of rocks anymore. A buddy of mine has running boards on his but no flaps and that keeps the spray/rocks off the the paint too.

    It was embarrassing once for me right after I got my truck that my front mud flaps scraped a speed bump. I took them off after that.

    If you post that you took them off some tw members will pitch a fit. But its probably cause they werent at a safe following distance and had a rock hit them from another vehicle. The other vehicle was most likely a semi trailer or dumptruck and not a tacoma. If you have sliders or steps it will minimiize rocks hitting the rockers. Take them off if you want, but with lighter color trucks they may be a black line from wind vibrations.

    I vote for leaving them on.

    If you have ever had a rock hit your windshield on the freeway then you will know why.

    lots of mud on the side and more rock chipping. I got tired of it and put some smaller husky flaps back on.

    $24 shipped;
    http://www.amazon.com/Rally-Armor-Universal-mounting-hardware/dp/B00C3AIOTY

    Trace onto cardboard. Cut it out. Tape the cardboard into desired position. Pop holes in it to match mounting points. Secure cardboard to flaps and drill your holes. Mount with the factory pop rivets + 1 stainless bolt/nut and a 1 1/4inch plastic sleeve/extension. Done.

    It seems to me that they literally charge you $70+ for holes and hardware (you can reuse the stock plastic rivets but need to spend $5 at HD/Lowes).

    My pop rivets got thrashed when I took off the fronts so i'll have to think of something to get these mounted. Obviously the stock screws wont work either as they are too short.

    I used the Husky replacements - they are just enough shorter to not look dorky - and long enough to protect. Could have cut the factory parts down - but just put them intact in the pile of stuff for the "next owner". They are right on top of the goofy original floormats.

    Was at a friends house the other night and due to other parked cars, I had to drive over a small curb. The resulting CRUNCH scared the shit out of me. I thought I had run something over. It was just that long ass, rigid mud flap hitting the curb.I think I may order some of those universals. Keep the budget minded suggestions flowing, as Im not about to drop 100 bucks on mud flaps.
