Just a hunch, but i bet the taco shaped tailgate 'fails' in the fuel economy category.

    BUILT, not bought...
    1) Backed into a pole checking out a chick at the Uni.
    2) Scratch/gouge on passenger side dashboard (from this chicks highheel).
    3) Kristen threw up in my truck (stains/stink on passenger door).
    4) dings in front bumper (running into shopping carts, and bushes).
    5) chipped paint on the doors.

    6) Fusebox is cut to hell from where I had to replace my 120amp Alternator fuse.

    Soon....
my dad backed into a tree the other day while going up a slope in the rain...smashed his bumper and bent up the side of the bed. $1400 for a new bumper and banging out the dented side.
I told him it would buff out.

Oddly, after I completely removed the tailgate, my mileage seems to have improved.

well yes i have had some damage. When i first got my truck somone backed into the side of it. About a year after i got that fixed i hit a dear doing about 25 and it spun around and dented the side of my truck with its head. About six months after that i hit another deer but it didnt do anything. The front bumper is fine just my drivers side side panel is dented. I swear those things are out for revenge...

Dent on my rear bumper. I was backing into a spot at work and hit the chain link fence, just so happened to be one of the poles for the chain link. I was pissed because i only had about 1500 miles on my truck at the time.

was backing into a parking space where there was a concrete barrier with a piece of rebar sticking out of it...rammed right into my bumper next to my license plate...gouged it about a week after I bought my '08.

Then several months later I backed the tailgate into a large dumpster when I had the tailgate down..hit it right on the corner...that sucked.

a lady in a BMW merged into the same lane as I and my truck tore up her headlight, driver's side fender and bumper, and all that happened to the Tacoma was a small scratch on my wheel that I buffed out with my pinky...and a dented hub.

After offroading and getting my truck muddy I pitched the truck tent (as we were camping) well, the tiedowns scratched the paint all up because of the fine mud/dirt...so be careful if you find yourself in that situation...

When driving in an underground parking lot a piece of wire which was attached to overhead water pipes scratched the roof of my truck (it was that stiff wire) left a nice gouge right down the middle...

I just traded the truck in...so hopefully I'll have a little better luck this time.

About 2 weeks ago we had a freak storm and it started hailing hard and now my truck has little dents in it. But the storm was crazy cuz it went from calm to super windy to hard rain to medium sized hail in like 20 min
