I blew up my 08 tacoma 4.0 engine. Truck is a MT. Oil pump failure, very similar to a thread I read a while back on here. Heard the screeching sound like my belt was going to explode.....turned out that was my oil pump shredding itself :/

Anyway, I found a motor from an 05 automatic. While I am 99% positive the 4.0 is the same regardless of the transmission, I actually could not find any information confirming this. I am positive it is on TW, I just haven't found it.

So that being said, will the donor 05 4.0 that came stock with an AT fit my 08 with a manual transmission?

Again, I apologize if this has been covered already, and thank you in advance!

PS. Don't worry, I am replacing the head gasket as soon as I get the motor, as well as the timing chain/guides and such. My previous 05 tacoma had a blown head gasket at 181k, and I know it is a common issue.

Yes you’ll just need to swap your flywheel, clutch and pressure plate over

Yes 05-11 Tacoma 4.0s are all the same aside from the headgasket being updated mid 06, only the one in the X-Runner I believe had a different oil pan but Auto and Manual are the same engine just a different flywheel.
