Just did a dive at Sheraton Caverns in Kauai. Visibility was excellent, swam with some huge sea turtles, and did it wearing nothing but trunks. I'm hooked, and want to get certified. I'm looking at Scuba Diver's Paradise north of Austin, TX. I'm told the Gulf of Mexico is favored by divers for its oil rig dives. Open water certification at this shop is $350, through SSI.

been diving for many many years. Kailua Kona is sweet to, we have local dive boats that do stand by for locals on the cheap. Check out these guys for equipment if you get serious. I've been using them for your years. The back wingback is so much more comfortable than a standard vest style BC.

I took scuba as an elective in college for 4 semesters. I used to love diving and always take my gear on trips with me if I'll be near the ocean. On a trip to the Bahamas I discovered turtles on the back side of the resorts island. I ended up buying some cheap snorkeling gear and took the wedding party I was there with out to swim with the turtles. Really great experience.

I was ssi but it has since expired as I didn't log any dives for nearly 8 years. I still understand the math and know how to safely manage my time under with decompression and not getting the bends so I'm sure when I'm able to be more active I'll get recertified. Good luck as you dice into the hobby.

Started diving when I lived in Monterey. Very cold! Dove 2-3 times a week there. Volunteered as a diver at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Friends and I would take annual dive trips to warmer places. I got into underwater photography. It's all a blast! High entry cost if you buy your own gear, but if you do it on a regular basis, worth it.

Always wanted to learn scuba, but never pulled the trigger.
Avid snorkeler - Always take a mask & fins if I'm going someplace where the water is warm & clear. Seen alot of cool stuff like that.

I am surprised we're only up to 12 posts. Usually the parking lots at the springs we dive are full of tacomas.....

1983 NAUI certified. SCUBA diving opened up a whole new world to me, and tangentially led to many other opportunities. It was one of the best things I ever did.

Nah. Most divers could probably give 2 shits about dumb dumbs who do nothing but discuss tire rubbing and oil changes.
