You'll find one or two 4Runner's around here ;) Welcome.

And I see our friend Dockingpilot is going on another trip soon. Even better.

Have you done any of the trails around Reno, NV? There is a nice one that goes from Boomtown into the Caughlin Ranch area of the city.

Hey guys, hope you'll forgive me bumping the zombie thread, but I've got a family cabin up in Truckee and an altogether too shiny bone-stock '17 TRD OR that I'd love to do some exploring with. This list looks like a fantastic start, but I thought I'd check in to see if anyone had made any new discoveries or had any updates in the last 6 years. Just went out yesterday down Soda Springs, got to crunch up some snowy inclines, had a blast. The photo below shows the truck on a section of road that was pure ice, like not gonna crack, sketchy to walk on solid ice. It was a drifty mess on the way downhill, but it climbed out traction-control-free in 4-hi without blinking. Was blown away, wanna keep the dirt coming.

Thanks so much for any input! Oh, and bonus points for any thoughts on particularly worthy local trails for a CR250R, I'm able to be a whole lot more adventurous on that toy

I really appreciate the well-wishing, and I definitely dig the explorer sentiment. My only trouble is I come up here with a wife, a 3 year old and (at the moment) a 7 week old. One day this will be a recipe for awesome family overland camping, but right now it means my wheeling happens during nap time. So any bang-for-your-buck signposting would really go a long way.

Look up Kidd lake. It’s just a dirt road, and not very long, but it will get you out to a few lakes that are scenic and the mobile kiddo can chase down frogs. Google maps are your friends. It’s hard to share your favorite spots when you go back and find spent casings everywhere and beer cans...

All the legit trails are closed for the winter. (even thought the condition is still perfect for wheeling) Check on alltrails.com alround the lake between April and October.

Byways has the same trails I was thinking of. Barker Pass is awesome for the view over the top of Homewood Ski Resort. I have to dig up a couple of pics from 2012 the last time I was there. Beautiful, and pretty easy.

Awesome. Appreciated. After days of trying to match up forest service maps with google maps (hopefully I get better at that with time), I just discovered that the Prosser Hill area network has an entrance 2 miles from my place, so I'm pumped to start exploring the crap outa that space. Generally, I trust myself to make mostly good decisions regarding the health of my truck and my self, but long as I've got the brain trust here, anyone familiar with that area got any pro-tips or notes of caution?

Since there is no snow this year getting stuck will be hard :D. The Prosser area is fun to roll around on, tons of trail riding. If you ever find yourself in a predicament on the trail, hit up the Reno thread and one of us will come assist.

Man, the love around here is real. Thanks a ton, friend, for the sake of not facing the wife's wrath I'll do my best to avoid taking you up on that
