So, yesterday, I get a check in the mail from Toyota. It's a payoff for the Economic Loss lawsuit settlement. Does anyone know about this, or also get this in the mail yet? All Tacoma owners will be getting this. The check was good, cuz the bank did cash it. I just don't know what it's all about. I can't understand all the legal terminology on the website.

Anyone else get theirs???? Or know about it...???

It is part of a settlement for the alledged defective electronic control throttle system (the runaway throttle that I have never experienced nor any other Toyota owner that I personally know.)

I think I did nothing when I got the notice except sigh.

Never did understand why people didn't just shift to neutral and apply the brakes.

Like I said, I never experienced it myself or personally heard from a Toyota owner that it happened to.

I can't find the news story right now but one individual that claimed it happened was facing manslaughter charges and it was his defense. It finally came out that he couldn't swear to his foot being on the brake pedal versus the gas pedal.

    "Sigh."

    ;)

Apparently there was a deadline to file your claim. I do not remember getting a notice in the mail or anything.

EDIT: I guess non-claimants are getting their checks now.

I did nothing, and knew nothing. Check is for $29.86 Hey, it's extra gas in my tank or a nice dinner for me, not my wife...:) Who else sends ya money fer nothing...??

Did anyone get their spare tire mount fixed due to the recall....??? My spare fell out last Summer, and now rides in my bed. Got 2 recall notices. Just haven't got it done.

Nice dinner? Food must be cheaper in your area. A nice dinner for me and the GF usually runs around $50-$80, unless we buy at the grocery store and I do the cooking (in all modesty, what I make is generally just as good or better than what a nice restaurant can do)

Dude, you gotta read or practice your math. I did say for me, and NOT my wife. So, $30 bucks falls right in what you said you pay for 2 of you. Plus, I don't drink, so that goes a tad farther. Plus, I don't waist money on 5 star eat nothing but crumbs dinner...:D I'm just sayin....;)

I received a check and I purchased my truck, used, from a Mercedes dealership.

Did you do a ninja edit on me? I could have sworn it said "and" when I read it the first time. Or that's what I get for logging on while I'm at work (usually each post gets interrupted 5 or 6 times )

Shrug. Either way, $30 wouldn't cover it for me. Dinner, drinks, and dessert plus tip at the local brew pub generally runs more than that per head.

But hey, free money's free money. Now you've got me checking the mailbox every night when I get home, haha!
