Hi, I had a new Rigid light fail. Rigid has been great, and give me a repair date (1/27/20). In the meantime they have shipped a replacement. The old light was a 6" E2 Driving Diffused. They are sending me the current version which is a E-Series PRO. The cases look similar enough that I believe it will mount the same way, however the lumens and amp draw are more than double. I'm guessing it's going to be a much brighter light. The problem is; it was part of a pair. It'll be nice having more light on one side, but the OCD in me might go nuts have mismatched lights. It will also be on the limit of my existing wiring, as the old pair was just under 10 amps, and they new mismatched set will push over 15 amps.

I can upgrade the wiring, but not sure what to do. I would have preferred the repair. Is it fair to ask they upgrade the other light? I bought the pair at a discount as they are E2's vs the newer PRO series. I really don't have or want to spend $420 on a matching light.

    Any thoughts are appreciated.

Your choices are; Buy the other light, Run mismatched, Refuse the replacement..

Do you know for-sure that your power supply is underrated for 15 amps?

I would prefer not to have mismatched lighting also. I would lean toward saving your money to build a new system around the new light.

It's 14 guage wire, so would need to go larger to handle more than 15 amps. The replacement should be here Friday.

I sent my warranty repair in in December and still have not received a temporary or permanent replacement. They were building something else and keep delaying my replacement.

I decided to keep the "new" light. It's a lot brighter, but not as noticeable on the truck as you would think. Here is the timeline for my replacement.

    12/15/19 Submitted Claim
    12/17/19 Received the RMA
12/18/19 Shipped light to Rigid via USPS
    12/23/19 Light arrived at Rigid
1/2/20 Contacted Rigid for an Update
1/6/20 Rigid replied they had not received the light
    1/6/20 Replied with tracking info
1/10/20 Repair invoice and estimate of 1/27/20
1/11/20 Received a shipping notice for a new light
1/13/20 Received Invoice and Tracking Info for the replacement light
1/17/20 Received new light via UPS

I did wait about 2 weeks to contact Rigid after shipping the light. I dealt with the same customer service representative each time, and she would usually respond to my email the next business day. Invoice/Shipping were sent from different people. Rigid is a small company and I was pleased in how they handled the claim. Basically a month turnaround isn't too bad considering shipping and the holidays. I'm still not certain if my original light was lost or beyond repair, but I will buy more Rigid products in the future.

It's possible they couldn't source parts at economical cost to repair the old light. Happens with computer parts as well.

Run the brighter light on the passenger side since it's farther away from you. :D
