I thought so, too. Wasn't sure that aftermarket head unit was the way to go, though!

If you don't use any of the features in the factory head unit and just want android auto then yeah go for it. Remember there are some settings you can change in the factory head unit but not too much stuff. Also will need to get some additional wiring harness' if you want steering wheel controls, back-up camera, usb input, etc. All-in-all it's your decision based on your needs that no one but you can make! Plenty of reviews of the head-unit itself out on the interwebs, though.

I bought and installed the JVC KW-V950BW. I ,like you, bought for the integration. I cannot speak to android but can for the Apple CarPlay. The other reason I bought it is for the wireless CarPlay. This is the part that I wanted it most for. I do enjoy the fact that I just get in the truck and it connects without plugging it in. I also installed the USB ports for both android and Apple so I have options. I’ve been meaning to post something to let everyone know what I came across and what I liked and didn’t. Let me know if you need more info.

That’s a really good looking unit. I love the basic look. I can’t stand most of the others with little buttons everywhere
