I’ve parused that thread from time to time. Just thought I’d start something more specific. And back country excursions are exactly my pace. I don’t really ever bother with anything otherwise.

I like this idea, i have a 2 1/2 year old boy and a dog that need to explore some more. So far we have just checked out Tahoe a lot and bald mountain. Always down to explore and camp.

No squids for us yet- but a couple of real good doggos. We're over in Napa and always looking for fun camping. We've been to Tahoe area mostly and want to branch out. Beer spilling is in our repertoire and enjoy finding other like minded people in a sea of non-libertarians.

    Just found this thread :anonymous:

I have two boys 7 and 5 and a third (unknown gender) due in June. I might be up for some family style camping trips, maybe just me and the boys.

    Also vive la liberte!

I’ve been away for a bit, but summer is in full swing so I’m going to bump up this thread.

I’d really like to get more interest in this thread and plan some come-as-you-are, informal meets and see if we want to put together some trips.

Just for a refresher, my four year old boy and I are looking for some good folks to hit it off and go camping! It would be great to get together with families with other little kids.

I’m not really into glamping and crowds; I prefer dirt, fresh air, and solitude. If I had my way, I’d be living like Dick Proenneke (in case you haven't heard of him - check him out in the video) or at least pack stocking Kings Canyon as a lifestyle.

Anyhow, drop a line here if you want to know more or have something to add.

Went from 3rd Gen Taco to 3GT4R to 2nd Gen Taco and finally a V8 4GT4R.
I don't have kids nor am I pushing 40. I am barely even tipping to 30. However, I do like to wheel, explore, and just be around like minded folk. I don't like going to crowded campsites so I tend to do primitive camping. I don't mind wheeling with other people and their kids. Realistically, I've learned some cool things when I'm out with other member's and their little ones. Hell, @Pella and his kid taught me some shit I didn't know about types of fish and even confirmed that I almost touched a rattler.

Saw two rattlers with my boy last summer, driving up to Idaho for the eclipse - which was epic.

Anyone going to be around Bridgeport / Mammoth Lakes area this weekend? I’m trying to get out that way with my four year old. Had a trip planned with the neighbors but they had to cancel last minute.

    How’s the smoke over there?

It was pretty bad last week...

I’m thinking of camping too but I want to get away from the all the smoke I get at home and at work.

Good question. I’m in Oakland so no idea. Where can you check for air quality other than calling the ranger station?

And that’s just a clip. There’s two full length parts.
