That’s funny I was climbing on Friday working on a cable that goes up a small mountain to a cell/radar/radio site working on a circuit for the coast guard. Your picture looks pretty much identical.

Telecom you see some cool places for sure.

I was a TELCO 'lineman' for a while back in the day. Planting poles (digging by hand at times), hooking them, connecting strand then lashing cable and hanging boxes too. Did removals too.

A mentor in the aviation maintenance industry once told me, "you can tell if someone has pride and puts real effort and thought into their work if they do something perfectly and make it look good, knowing they are going to cover it up".

Apply for the apprenticeships. We had a 1st step apprentice dead ending off the boards with us on the last job. Being paid to learn.

I am fighting the same battle constantly. I don't get them mentality of not giving a shit how your work looks. I have been embarrassed walking through with inspectors when they point out hacky work my apprentices did. It doesn't help that some of the other field superintendents don't teach them right from the beginning.

If you spend half your waking life doing something you might as well make it perfect.

I live out in British Columbia Canada. We have 1 electrical supplier run by the government. Its almost impossible to get into working with them unfortunately. Their beginners start off making six figures not including 2.5x overtime

    Hardcore off road floor mats!
Wish I had kept my name on the books at local 53 when I was 18... Oh well. Not going to get into it now. Other paths I'd like to go down.

I had to learn how to climb power poles when I was going to Combat Engineer school at Fort Leonard Wood.

Splinters the size of pencils on yonder training poles.
