I carry a Buck folder in my pocket and a Leatherman PST on my belt, and I have a Mora classic #2 that rattles around in the center console. Plus the GHB has a Swiss Army Knife, a Buck Woodsman, and a Camillus Carnivore.

In some states or jurisdictions a knife could be considered "concealed" if it's not in plain view. And in some states or jurisdictions it's illegal to have a "concealed" weapon in your car.

Used to be that way in Colorado. Years ago I had a survival knife attached behind the seat for easy access. My roommate borrowed my truck and after one thing lead to another, was pulled over and searched. They found the knife and wrote him a ticket for it and had to appear in court.

Lol. Living in states like that must suck.

Most states have that concealed weapon clause. They can dam anything as a concealed weapon. I know of a case where someone was driving on a suspended license. They had to 'search' the vehicle since it was being towed. A flathead screwdriver and a chisel were found under the drivers seat. Both were confiscated and concealed weapon charges were filed. Cuffs, bond, court case, etc.

I would keep things out of reach of the driver in either a locked position, or secured nicely.

When I am on my way to go diving, I strap my knife to my A-Pilar handle so it is in plain view for everyone. When I am on my way back, sometimes i leave it strapped to my arm in plain site. Too many times have I had gear taken from my truck that I now use more blatant methods of display.

Was on federal land with an aerial flare for the boating trip we were on. Got that charge and they added an explosives charge to it. Load of crap.

Maine law regarding knives is as follows:
    1) It is legal to carry any knife in the open
    2) It is illegal to carry daggers, stilettos, and knives designed for harming others.
    3) Any knife outside of those three categories is legal to carry concealed.

Essentially, it's illegal to carry dirks or stilettos at all, openly or concealed, on or off your person. Everything else is legal to carry openly or concealed, on or off your person (including backpacks and center consoles), as long as it's not illegal to own (such as switchblades, balisongs, or automatic knives)
Knives designed primarily to inflict harm on other people are illegal
Knives designed primarily for hunting, fishing, trapping, or utility purposes are legal.

ANY KNIFE IS DESIGNED TO CAUSE HARM. That is what cutting is. Look at the Box cutters and the airplanes...

A-10....I remember growing up as a youngster in the 80's, fishing out on Lake Ontario out of Sandy Pond / Pulaski area NY. A-10's used to do their low and slow training out over the lake. They would pop out from behind the treeline and swoop out and about, very cool. They would line up on the boats out there. Love those things as well. Think they were out of Ft. Drum in upstate NY.

Change your name to Billy Joel, because you're in a New York State of Mind.

Most knives are designed to be tools. They're not all designed to be used to attack people with.

Your right. I agree with the knife/tool statement. Just seen too many positives turn to negatives lately.
