wrench sizes would be 8,10,12,14,16,18,20,and 22mm for our trucks.
Bolt cutters are a good idea, aka "keys to the city"

with the population of LA you dont think your little "sparsely populated" areas would be overrun? Keep fooling yourself

Nope. There's nothing there for them. That's why they're sparsely populated. ;)

lol... That's why I have provisions at home... AND a GTFO vehicle. If it really hits the fan, there is no way the 10k or so mule deer in the mountains of SoCal are going to be alive after a week with MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of people thinking they will ride it out in the hills. Rabbits and Squirrels will all be gone a week or two after that. I am fairly well armed, but no truck is going to stop a 30-06 round from ONE guy who decides to make a hill and a fire road his turf to defend. In a pinch, I'm out! If I can't, I'll lay low.. until I can get out! Either way Cali is a graveyard if you can't get out.

I like your sense of humor. :)
I'm happy people think what I do is stupid, because if they didn't, where I am wouldn't be on the edge of civilization.

Thanks... but I'm more into wood stoves, kerosene lamps, and candles.

I don't think you are stupid. I live in SoCal for the jobs, the weather and because my wife won't friggin' leave. But make no mistake, this Georgia boy is ready for whatever the world throws at me other than a direct hit from god-knows-what. Maybe it's enough, maybe it isn't.. but I'm as ready as I can be here.

I'm also not judging you for thinking you can survive in the semi-wilderness around ultra-suburbia. Depends on what happens of course, I just think you are being naive if you don't realize there are at least 10's of thousands of others with the exact same plan that are probably better armed than you. (and.. POSSIBLY me... although I doubt it. I once visited a county sheriffs department that could give me a doubt. lol j/k.. maybe.) In those cases where everyone flees for the woods, it's better to stay put wherever you can be secure for weeks or months until everything shakes out in my opinion. The last thing I want is to be in the middle of a panic'd crowd when/if SHTF.

It's good to have your truck ready, imo. But staying

Hey fellas, didn't read every page all the way through, but if you don't already know, check out gunbot.net, it shows realtime availability and price of ammo, mags, and reloading equipment.

That's why I don't live in the city.

Good point. But if there was no electric power, gas stations couldn't pump gas making tires irrelevant. That's one reason I chose to already live where I'd want to go in an emergency. Heck, I was at a gas station when their computers were down and they couldn't sell gas to anyone. The only reason I could get gas was that I paid cash.

Solar is good for charging batteries. If there was a total power grid failure, for example from a solar flare or an EMP detonation. Solar panels would be fried right along with anything else electronic. Hello 1800's. Candles and wood stoves.

So I have a Tahoe it was gonna be built as a bug out vehicle someone stole the gas tank out of the truck...cant get far if you utilize your truck if someone steals the pump and tank...ive never even heard of something like this happening. I found a new tank/pump and lines im hoping the guy decides to part the truck if he does im gonna put a single spot welt on the bolts for the tank so no one can just unbolt it and run with it again...

    Good choice. That's what I have:D

Not the highest abrasion rating on the material, but it's good enough. Perfect size for a 3day pack.

Hey everyone. Been following this thread for awhile; lots of great info.

My brother was at our mom's house with his dog in her backyard when the next door neighbor's pitbull jumped the block wall and attacked his dog. He stopped it in time before it fucked his dog up, and he fucked the pitbull up, but it got me thinking about my lack of protection when I'm out riding my mt bike on trails or riding to work.

I have pistols and what not, but don't see any real way of carrying it without it popping out of the holster from being banged around on trails. I used to carry it in my bag but I would have to get off the bike, open the bag, and grab the gun before I could use it. Plus I ride by a few schools on the way to work and I'd rather not get in trouble for carrying a gun so close by.

So I had this old knife laying around and test attached it to the shoulder strap of the bag. It works, but it is a pretty big F'n knife and I feel it looks a bit ridiculous. I thought about using a smaller knife like the S&W one shown, but it isn't too secure when it's clipped onto the "anchor points," at least where it is easily accessible with one hand while riding.

This is more for protection against wild animals and what not that you encounter when riding around. I know it's better to look ridiculous and have it it than look fine and not have it when you need it.

Opinions? I guess I could just find a knife about 2/3s the size of this one but I'd rather use what I already have. What do you guys do when riding around?

Figured this was the thread to put this in since the mountain bike one is more about just posting pics of your bike.

I would be more than comfortable with the little tanto folder you have there. You might need the bayonet looking one if you were fighting a bear or something.
