Thank you! Training was at a neighbor district (Nile) about a half hour drive away. We trained with the guys that we would go with on mutual aid water rescues. Lots of river accidents in my area.

I hear ya. Mutual aid training is always best for tech rescue IMO. Even though I have Swift water tech I would looove the opportunity to go down to Indiana River Rescue School. Their training facility looks amazing.

My buddy sent me this picture of me and my captain on a defensive commercial fire.

It get’s worse! I omitted the fact that they decided to try and put the fire out with a garden hose and didn’t call us until the neighbor’s house caught on fire

Once I conceded the fact that my job really wasn’t to respond to emergencies, but to just help people that have a hard time dealing with life, it was a much easier pill to swallow.

Shit, they finally found a way to get us to hydrate enthusiastically. I need a case for the CDF guys.

Haven't posted on here in a while - hope you all are doing well and keeping safe out there.

The last couple bad calls I've been on have made me think about how much of the time we deal with a pretty rough side of our society.

If you ever need to reach out to vent or whatever don't hesitate to hit me up.

    Stay strong brothers.

My small district has been getting busy, hardly any gnarly calls in 19 years here, in the last 12 months we have had 3 structure fires, a trench rescue, a shooting, several car fires, and a roll over. We are getting busy by our standards lmao

Thanks for putting this out there. More and more I’m feeling like mental health is the new crisis we as first responder face… There are things we can do about cardiac disease and cancer, especially because people are willing to address them. But if the leaders in the fire industry don’t begin to address mental health on a more regular basis, the statistics are just going to get worse.

I’ve got a list of resources that I’m compiling and am here to assist my brothers and sisters become more resilient. …union/volunteer/part-time/whatever…doesn’t mean anything to me. You’re all important in my views.

This kind of support is becoming more and more prevalent here in AZ, I’m glad to see it moving elsewhere. This job we are expected to have each others backs, and addressing mental health is part of that. It’s take more courage and strength to admit you’re dealing with something than it does to just stuff it down and ignore it. I’m proud to be part of this family

Little TRT last week. Hoisted with the helicopter then transported to the hospital for a broken ankle.
