    grrr...
anyone gamble? i kinda gamble for a living (barely) and i've seen/tooken some really bad run of cards. so this is kind of a bad beat vent thread. how much you lost ever.

the most i lost was 3400 within 5 hours. at the excaluber and the mgm. dumped around 2000 at casino war, drunk off my ass. but got refunded for my stay at the mgm after getting rated by the pit boss' and the players club; an average $45 bet for like 10 hours. i played over 18 hours in two days(poker, blackjack, and war). did about poker 4 hours of live poker (first non-home no limt game). got drunk off my arsh, and went broke. mgm re-funded my room after getting rated. lol. so that bought breakfast and a beating on war.

tonight i lost a grand in play, a little more with drinks. biggest beat tonight was flopping top two pair, with a donkey (did 3 re-buys while i sat down). i turned a full house (rolled up aces full of 10's). i bet 1/3 the pot, and the douche raises me all in. i call like a bat out of hell (i had about 200 before the hand). he flips over AK (trips, i have a boat)... the TURN comes a king. it out rolled me. a highier full house. lost about $420 on that hand. and in blackjack i was doing good sober, then after a few, the dealer making 21's with 4-6 cards on TWO different tables, while i was beating heavier than normal($50-125). it was sick!. but after all of that non-sense... i manage to leave at about $400 under, when i was stuck a grand. grrrr im STILL pissed, i lost with a full house....

Wow thats alot of dough!

I like to play black jack but certainly wouldn't consider myself a gambler. My job sent me everywhere and my boss loved the casinos. It wasn't really my favorite thing to do while travelling. For awhile the Cisco Networkers conference was out in Vegas so we would stay in the MGM. I'd say that is a pretty nice casino compared to the others I've seen.

Lots of friends go up to Montreal or Foxwoods, but I prefer outdoor sports than be inside spending mod money.

Good luck with your next adventure, hope the cards fall your way! :D

the last time i was at the casino i was only in for 200 (had about 300 at the time) but i lost a 1800 pot with a full house when some fool caught his straight flush on the river...

there ws a lot of betting pre flop and i caught my full house on the flop. after a lot more raising and reraising I went all in forcing this other guy to go all in. we showed our cards and he had a jack high flush and thought i was going to show a higher flush - WHY WOULD YOU BET SO MUCH IF THERE WERE SO MANY OTHER HANDS THAT COULD BEAT YOU!!!
anyway... he felt pretty lame when i showed him my full house and then he caught his card on the river...

he was jumpin all around like he had just played the best hand ever... i wanted to slam his head right through the table...

a little over analizing but if the river would have been the high end of his straight instead of the low end he would have still gotten his straight flush but it would have given me 4 of a kind... qualifying me for the bad beat pot which was up to about 30,000 at that point

    oh so close

My Dad started a company in 1985 in Charlotte, NC where he was born and raised called Casino Travel. He took "junkets" into Vegas, Atlantic City, the Caribbean, and Mississippi. He even went to Turkey a few times. I went on many trips with him as a kid, even though I wasn't old enough to go into the casino (I did sneak around, just couldn't play any games). We had "real" slot machines in the downstairs den, along with a roulette wheel and blackjack table. Living in Charlotte, I was the only kid around who's Dad worked in this industry, it was cool. He used to have big Baccarat parties on friday nights. Lots of pretty women and bottles of booze around. Needless to say, growing up in this environment I learned all the games and how to play them....I was good too. I went to work for my Dad and started going to Harrah's both in AC, NJ and Vegas. I already felt like a seasoned veteran the first time I sat down at a real blackjack table, which was my game of choice. If I told you I won a lot of money, that would be true. If I told you I lost more than I won in the end, that would also be true. I've got a million stories, trust me. I've seen the glamorous "glitzy" side as well as the dark underbelly. Those days are over though now with a wife, 2 kids, and a thriving printing business here in Atlanta.

My wife Tracy and I were married in Las Vegas in 1998 along with friends and family in the industry. We bought a condo there a few years ago where we go every year on our Anniversary. I do hit the blackjack tables while I'm there and play some slots, but I only take $1000. I leave the rest with Tracy, and if I loose the $1000, I'm DONE. I'll then go to the pool, the shows, eat, or just chill in the condo and watch everybody go by 31 stories below.

Oh, and yeah....liquor and gambling don't go well together, I speak from first hand experience. I don't drink at all now however.
