Got nothing planned for this week, and don't live on FB.

Just curious if there are any Rigs + Coffee/Beer, Tacos + Tacos, etc going on somewhere in the PDX area, or anywhere west of PDX?

Or if there is a small group of locals interested in just a loose meet up for lunch/beer somewhere and talk Tacomas or 2023 plans?

Put together an overnighter with some camping?

I was free that day and was looking for something sort of local to go do.

Looks like everyone had things to do already.

I changed the title so it's open ended for us locals to use.

Feel free to post up any local event or gathering you know of that is coming up, or just want to meet up for beer/tacos, tool time, outing or chit chat.

hey guys! I’m in Gresham area and I’m free Friday/Sunday/Monday this weekend. You guys want to hit some trails for a day trip (I don’t own camping gear yet) ? I am completely new to off roading and my truck does not have lockers yet, so nothing too challenging haha.

    More the merrier as well!

still trying to figure out where to go. Looking for something that’s relatively easy as I don’t have lockers or a winch. I do have a recovery strap and traction boards.

    possibly browns camp.

You won't need lockers or winch at Browns Camp or most OHV trails in Oregon with a stock truck. The trails are pretty well laid out to keep the stockish trucks on the appropriate trails to avoid getting completely haggard.

Just keep to the trails with the green circles (easiest). As you get more comfortable with your truck and learn what you can and can't do with it, you might venture into the easier blue trails. But, I would not suggest doing those without a buddy rig that is better equipt.

Things you should be sure to have with you especially on the first couple trips on OHV trails:

    *Oregon OHV sticker/permit.
    *Shovel.
    *Vehicle rated fire extinguisher.
*Trail map on paper or App (or both).
*Phone and some other form of communication device. (FRS, GMRS, CB, HAM).
    *Food/water.
    *1st aid kit.

Being winter time, additional items suggested:

    *Extra warm clothing/boots/blanket.
*Chainsaw/bow saw for down limbs/trees across the trail.

    Bonus items:
    *Traction boards.
    *Recovery rope/strap.
    *A way to air down/up.
    *Basic tool kit.

I work Sun and Mon, so I'm out.

BTW, your 1st gen regular cab will be a beast out there even in stock form. Narrow, short, and light weight.

Let’s do browns camp on Monday! I’ve got traction boards and a recovery rope. I see that people like to meet at the shell station off hwy 6/8. I was thinking we can meet there around 9:30. Leave about 9:45 depending if we’re waiting for anyone else.

    Have you been before?

The Shell is a common place to meet up. On a Monday you'll be fine meeting there for sure. On a weekend it can get busy there in the morning with trucks with trailers and such. So keep that in mind.

I live about 20mins from Browns and was up there a week or so ago.

I just stayed on the main gravel roads like University Falls, Beaver Dam, C-Line and Ceder (not in that order). There was a TON of down trees that were cleaned up already off the road. I had to turn around and back track a few times as a few trees were still untouched pretty far up.

Looks like a hurricane blew through the area with trees snapped off way above ground, and more completely uprooted and laying on their side.

Being winter and still raining, it is always possible for more trees to finally give out and fall across roads and trails. Thus the suggestion to carry some form of log cutting device so you don't get trapped behind a fresh drop.

Anyone like to winter camp or camp in wet weather?

Be it ground tent, RTT, back of the truck w/topper, off road trailer, etc?

Not at some pay to play campground, but somewhere dispersed, completely self prepared?

Always looking for new trail friends to share a campfire, and tell lies with.

Don't really have the camping gear at the moment, but once I start piecing things together I'd love to come along.
