Would just like to add, your fingerboard does in fact need oiling.
Out of all the A list players I have worked for throughout the years, everyone of their fingerboards gets oiled. I prefer Dunlop65 Lemon Oil. Get yourself some.

Im going with because its wood.
Sweat, whatever I had on my fingers, humidity, etc etc

One of those tomatoe tomato debates but having worked wood with my pop my whole life.....

    To each his own.
Thanks man  Order up, on its way.

First and foremost playability. With a rosewood fingerboard the dryness factor really prohibits a smooth movement of the strings. The string in fretted on the wire, but your finger is on the wood.

also, changing environments or seasons really has adverse effects on your instrument. Some oil on the fingerboard will help the wood acclimate much better.

Furthermore, it just looks better. The deep darker wood usually is brought out with an oiling. You start to see more reds and purples even, depending on the wood.

I'm sold, will give this a try. I would assume the same is true for acoustic fretboards? Is it OK to put this oil on the body of the guitar as well? Or the underside of the fretboard?

I've used Formsby's on rosewood fretboards since the 70s. Acoustics & electrics, nary a loose fret, or any other damage, ever.

good for all rosewood finger boards on any guitar. Ebony wood not so much. Exotic woods it depends.

I’ll also use it on acoustic bridge saddles.

Lemon oil for furniture I would avoid, as they usually contain polishes as well.

Go with a guitar specific “lemon” oil. It’s most likely only lemon scented. But formulated for a guitar and instruments specifically.

Do you treat your guitar like a dining room table? Hell no. Then don’t get furniture polish. Lol

try to avoid the polishing oils. These usually contain polishes that contain a silicon based polish. This will lift your frets and damage wood.

Off the graveyard shift. That two weeks really screwed me up. Been slacking on the guitar, time to get back on track.

I know I said something way back about not getting stuck in the three note powerchord but....
After learning a bunch of new covers to help build up my strength and especially all the cool new shapes Im picking up off of stuff like mindcrime, Ive changed my mind.
    Power chords are good fun!

Working my pinky in more and more and also working on getting a full bar with the ol' pointer.
    Yeah good loud times.
    Shapes!!!!
    All different kinds of them!

Looks like reverb has posters too....
    More coffee please

    Right?
Just discovered them by accident in dudes prog rock thread.

Hope the soa guy is cool with me borrowing his awesome idea.....cause I love it!

Been practising with my eyes closed, looking away and turning off all the lights at night trying to get more familiar with the fretboard.

    Is is dark yet?
    Cant wait.

    Dont worry matic,
I havent drilled any holes in it.....
Tied it on with some paracord for now.
Im sure there must be like a velcro strap version or whatever for the setup that guy has.
    Havent looked yet.
Just made a trade with my friends daughter...
Bag of red licorice for her little finger led thingy.

    Love the concept.
Will come up with a more permanent led later.
