Got new strings. And I hate them. They’re waaaaaay too bright.

got a power supply from the pawn/music shop luckily.

and then I learned another lesson. Bought a cheap cable to connect from pedal to amp. Cable is a piece of shit and doesn’t work. I’m not going out again today. I’ll go up and get another legit Ernie ball cable tomorrow.

Saw this Marshall head and Fender 412 half stack on Facebook marketplace and threw the guy a ridiculous offer and he accepted. I know it's just a solid state and a Fender garbage cab, but for $200 I can't complain

Brand new strings always sound somewhat bright, and usually mellow a bit. But, they may just be too bright, period.
I have found elixirs to be a bit darker...

They’re elixirs. I’m gonna give them a couple weeks to break in see how they develop. I ordered another set already

    @TeecoTaco

TD-1DMK bundle with double bass pedal, extra CY-12C cymbal and boom arm and a pair of sticks.
    No throne.
    $1244 tax included. Free shipping.

    Or

TD-17KV with single noise eater pedal.
    No throne, no sticks.
    $1400+tax. Free shipping.

I'm thinking the module upgrade itself is worth the extra green.

It depends really...i thought you were tapping your own electronics for the effects? If thats the case, the upgraded brain isnt going to bring you full value. I bought mine as a TD-3 kit, but upgraded to TD-8 brain after a year or so, because it brought more to the table. I run mine through an Adcom pre-amp then thru my amp to my reference speakers, so more effects and functionality was worth it to me. You can always snag a used brain that somebody else wants to upgrade from, then sell your brain.

My advise...upgrade your pads to mesh first (if not already) then your cymbals, then your brain...especially if you have external effects.

Either way, you wont be disappointed with V-Drums

Just did a quick research of the two brains...apparently the td1 has less abilities for for pad zones (ie 3 zones for cymbals and 2 zones for toms) look into the td-17kvx if you are wanting 3 zone 12 inch cymbals, the 17 kv reads to me that they only support 2 zone...

Edit: i know i just contradicted my prev post lol. It depends what your end game is going to be

Initially yes. Just to trigger my EZ drummer 2 vst.

The 17kv has massive amounts of upgrades already. 12" snare, larger toms, larger crash and ride.
The only thing the same is the hi hat.

    50 presets/50 user kits.
    Blu tooth.
    L/R direct outputs.

The TD-1 module is just very limited.

    Yea. Looked at the kvx.
Unfortunately I'll have to buy a kick pedal and hi hat stand. That's probably going to put me over budget.

$2220 without tax for the KVX.
Single bass pedal and hi hat.

Maybe I'm getting in over my head.

Its easy to go over budget for sure lol...try shopping on budget for a PRS lulz. My wife kept looking at me sideways as my budget crept up 100% a time about 3 times lol
