Scrolled through that. Pretty sure it's the amp. Doesn't matter if the guitar is plugged in or not. I'm leaning towards static build up. Remember, I got it used so who knows what was done...

But damn dude. How is it even playable except for the headphones?

All I can guess is the headphone Jack bypasses the problem spot. Had to tear apart the stove today, not in the mood to open something else up today...

I've been out of the gear game for a decade. Kids, buying a house, etc. Where do you get your new gear info? What's the Jalopnik of music gear? I've been snooping the craigslist and Telecaster forum and it's mind-blowing how valuable my old gear is getting. I have no plans to sell anything but it's wild what's happened in the secondhand gear market since companies have raised prices on their stuff. There was a big price jump around 2008 and that's when I stopped buying new gear. I used to flip stuff on craigslist all the time but got out of it. Sold off most of my vintage stuff to pay bills during tight times.

Have you tried a noise suppressor in the FX loop?

Not using atm, amp has a bunch of built ins. Makes the noise running straight, nothing plugged in. I'll crack it open a little later.
Edit: also has a hard time firing up. Have to flip the power switch several times to get power to come on.

Ok, don't know what the hell I did, but amp seems to be working as advertised. Maybe those loose nuts up against something? Faint hum with guitar plugged in. Recoating the pot grounds that looked like they had been touched with a soldering iron. May do copper shielding in the pot bay....

Drinking whiskey and playing Black Sabbath is highly recommended.

Sometimes it's best to just bight bullet and let the pros do their thing. But, it sure sucks when you gotta give in.

Just woke up from my old man nap.
Off to grab some late night tacos and back to fire up some black sabbath myself!

Probably cost me more to get it fixed than it's worth, but still cheaper than new. Oh well, it is what it is...

Never know man. Could be something as simple as a bad tube or a bad connection somewhere.
