I moved out the sg express. That was an impulse buy that never should have happened. Moved in the RS440 next to my RS430 and will remove the Dean baby ml on Thursday to make room for the RS530 coming in from Cali by friday.

I'm trying to figure out a good place to donate the 2 small scale guitars.

    Yawn...
I've purchased an Ebony Les Paul Custom w/ gold hardware last year. It was the showroom piece. When I was looking at her during my "test drive", I noticed light scratches here and there. I didn't mind it much because it was one of my many dream guitars. Every Gibson in the shop, even the other models in the glass case had a few cosmetic blemishes.

No setup issues! I do wish there was closer attention to the quality of paint. Even though I didn't mind paying for a dream, I still to this day think it is an overpriced brand. I see more quality in my PRS and I paid close to a grand less.

If you can see some of my previous posts on this thread, I royally messed the paint up later on. So now I really don't care. In the future, my money will be going toward QUALITY - like PRS, Parker, Esoterik... ugh... so many dreams.

Are those aluminum neck Kramer basses on the right?

    Many & varied

Yeah, I've heard QC has gone down the drain, due mainly to high turnover in upper mgmt. and supervisory roles. Sort of like Home Depot, folks are hired not knowing what to do, get "trained" on the job via video lessons, and quickly cycle out when they grow tired of the work environment. Also, that whole exotic wood deal with the FBI a few years ago really put a dink in production. Gibson and Fender are much like Harley Davidson- they're Lifestyle brands with product quality that doesn't really match up to imports. I've had two Gibsons and multiple Epiphones produced over a twenty year span. Epiphone has vastly improved their product and Gibsons leave me feeling "meh." If I had to do it over, I'd probably take two Epiphones for the cost of my Gibson.

That nitro finish and smell though......

I've had a 2014 SG, a 2015 Les Paul Deluxe, a 2016 Les Paul Standard, and I just got a 2018 Les Paul Classic. They've all been flawless out of the box. My 2010 ES-339 is the only one that had a minor flaw from the factory.

I've had many more problems with Fenders. I've returned 3 American Strats and an American Tele that had fretwork so bad that they couldn't be set up to Fender's own specs without horrific fret buzz. I gave up and bought a USA G&L Legacy (Strat) which is incredible. I'll probably buy a G&L ASAT (Tele) eventually too.

Yeah, I didn't even mention Fender. It was becoming the Walmart of guitars long before Gibson. I love G&L - have two ASAT basses myself. Not sure why I need two...

G&L has had their shit together for a long time. Since the mid 80's. I played a recent tribute Superhawk Jerry Cantrell model. Phenomenal.

Yeah, I've heard even the Indonesian-made Tribute models are great, which is rare for Indo in my experience. G&L must keep some strict quality control over there.

My '99 Legacy hardtail. Vintage 50s deep-v neck profile and pickups. I love it so much I dropped a stupid sum of money for a full stainless steel fret replacement last year. I'll never sell this one!

I came from a musical family but none of it rubbed off on me or my brothers. I also have my grandfathers banjo and fiddle. You are right when you said there were a lot of memories.

Any of you guys ever heard of Jacob Deraps?
I stumbled on some of his videos on you tube tonight doing some Van Halen covers.

I had 13 at one point-the most I've ever had. Now I'm down to 7.

    I think I'm done until I find the 520.
