Ha, this popped up for me today too. Didn't watch it though, watched another YouTuber use is a few months ago.

I guess could be good for a break down...

Not much to see. First pedal built. A clone of a Color tone one knob fuzz with bc108 and 109 silicon transistors. Sounds great. Working on a temolo next and then a Sunn preamp clone.

Learn the pentatonic scale one string at a time, not in a position with a group of notes. Was a game changer for me when someone showed me that. Changes how you view the fretboard because you are gonna be forced to learn all the root notes in a scale.

Try to use the very tips of your fingers when you do chords. It will take time. You body has to have time to adapt to holding all these weird shapes.

And remember, if it was easy. Everyone would do it!

Super easy to string up. The screws come up and theres a post that comes out. Ball goes in, post pushes the ball down, screw goes back in.

They are floaters but I just block them with wood or tremel-no. Never really used one even for vibrato.

Same, my PRS custom 24 came with one. I never use it. I had to re-adjust the thing when I put light strings on it. It came set up with ultra lights from PRS (weird right?).

I want Fender to make some more hardtail strats. Something I have wanted for awhile. Squire was them for under $200. Tempted to buy one just cause they are so cheap.

I posted on this board a little while ago, but must admit that I'm a bit intimidated by all the experience and knowledge of guitarists, equipment, etc. I'm a novice guitar player (maybe 1 solid year under my belt altogether). I actually started playing back in 2008 but then was in a motorcycle accident that left me partially paralyzed my right arm and shoulder (brachial plexus injury). I went through neurosurgery and a long rehabilitation and regained a fair amount of use in my arm, but there are still deficits. Most notably is my inability to supinate my wrist, which probably has more to do with all the titanium plates holding it together rather than the nerve damage.

Anyway, I decided to pick up the guitar again last year. I'm a huge Springsteen fan (hence my username) so my main guitar is Telecaster. I also have a PRS McCarty 594 (that I never seem to play) and I also just bought a little Shred Neck travel guitar. I have a couple of pedals (Loop, Distortion, Octave) but don't really know how to use them. I have two amps: Fender Pro Junior (I think this is a tube amp) and a Fender Mustang (I think they call this solid-state). Like I said, I am a complete novice. I know my basic chords and practice scales. Just learning power chords now as well as my E-shape and A-shape barre chords. I know about half a dozen Bruce songs, some Dylan, and a couple of basic 4-chord beginner songs. I take lessons every other Friday (remotely).
    tele.jpg prs.jpg shred.jpg amps.jpg pedals.jpg

I would like to learn more form everyone on this board. In addition to more basics , stuff like: what's the best practice routine, how do you sing and play at same time, how do you pick out a strumming pattern in a song, etc...a million things...I know...it's a journey.

Welcome to the fold. It's tough not to be intimidated. Guitar is very complicated. I have "played" for about 25 years. About 22 of those years were wasted time just learning a song here or there. Only in the past 2-3 years have I buckled down and learned theory and technique.

My biggest piece of advice is to stop learning songs at this point. It is a waste of time unless you are working on ear training or a specific technique. If your teacher is just transcribing songs (which is all mine did as a kid) they are wasting your time. Beyond that, I think it depends on where you want to wind up, but the circle of 5ths and understanding how a major key is formulated are essential, I think. Everything is based on major. From there you can unlock modes. I included some of my old notes to give you some direction, but just search on YouTube. There are a lot of great, free lessons available. Don't be afraid of theory videos by piano players.

Start leaning the notes on the fretboard, by ear and by name. Just focus on 1 string at a time. Then start finding the same note on all strings and this will teach you the relationships of the strings.

If you are ready, listen to pop songs and jingles and figure out the chord progression BY EAR, once you can tell the difference between a major and minor tonality. You can also start on one string and just figure out a bass line.

It may not be as much of an issue for you because of the type of music you are into, but definitely seek out ways to reduce tension in your hands while playing. Tom Hess has some great videos about this, but it is geared towards metal. Once you ingrain bad technique habits, they can be difficult to reverse, then you wind up tendonitis like me.

Like you said, it is a journey. Sometimes a very frustrating one. It takes real effort, time, and intention. If you apply yourself, I think you will be surprised how quickly you will pick things up.
