Anyone else here playing unplugged? I'm kinda fond of finger picking old Gibsons and such. When we moved into a new house my wife got to decorate most of it... but the living room became my sanctuary. It's quite the mish-mosh of mixed brands, designs, and styles. The gems are the 1924 Gibson tenor banjo and 1937 Gibson L50 guitar (still plays and sounds great) on the right side of the wall. Still have a few more to hang up yet. Taught myself to play on the '48 L48 on the floor left end. That was my dad's first guitar and the only one I was allowed to play when I was a kid. Best part is that no two sound alike. Carved archtops and archbacks, solid flat tops, laminates, spruce, mahogany, flamed maple, walnut and rosewood. These are some of my favorite things.....

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
So this is some sad shit. My neighbor about a year ago fell out and hit his head. Dude hasn’t been the same since. I used to hear him play loud, he loves Mastodon and he would let it rip.

A year later he is still having a hard time talking, getting words to come out and he can’t play shit anymore.

Sucks to see a good friend party himself into a vegetable :(

I love me some acoustics. Would really like a j45. I own a Taylor, and an old Washburn from the 80s. My best friend has a Collings which I drool over.

In my mid 40s and my gf and I went to see about 2/3 shows a month last year. Most of it was folk and singer songwriter stuff.

That is a hell of a collection! I have three acoustics: 2001 Guild F-30R (Westerly RI), a 2012 Taylor Big Baby, and a 2021 Taylor GT Urban Ash. Have thought about getting an electric in my guitar playing life, but I know how lazy I am and the set up and dedicated guitar playing room would turn it into a dust collector. My guitars are hung up all around the house near where I sit so I can just grab it pluck away when the urge hits.

I have played acoustic solely since 2000 or so and its hilarious when I play an electric guitar now - a bend over shoots the desired tone to levels of David Gilmour. Threw away the picks 15 years ago or so and have been solely fingerstyle since.

I've always wanted a J45! I've got Gibsons, a Washburn D25 from the 80s, Joe Pass Epiphone, Taylor 12, Seagull 12, Yamaha, Ibanez Starfield and others but nothing in a jumbo. Someday.

I know you will appreciate this! Need to take more pics of it, as I have posted this in the past.

My wife gets upset because there's always a loose guitar leaning against some piece of furniture. I've never really played electric. I have a couple semi-acoustics with pickups but the last time I used an amp was for my son's wedding 5 years ago (only because it was outside). I play mostly fingerstyle but I have 4-5 picks in my pocket right now because I pick them up around the house and stash them so the wife doesn't put them away somewhere obscure. I bought my first guitar, an Ibanez Starfield (upper left corner of the wall) for $130 in 1975. That was a lot of cash back then. My dad paid half for Christmas.

That is absolutely beautiful! I'll inevitably inherit my dad's 1959 L7C someday.

    You tease...

This is the one I am following. Jason can shred. It's basic, but it got the idea down for me. He doesnt really touch on the palm muting, but one step at a time for me.

I finger pick, but mostly hydrid pick now because I am going between electric and accoustic all the time and I find it a good balance. Just got the intro part for REM's song "Drive" down by hybrid picking it.

That is a great collection you have!

I was also looking at a much more expensive custom shop. But I really like the burst on this one more so, and while the inlays would have been nice…I own Toyota’s not Mercedes lol
2800 is a big pill to swallow, let a lone 4700!

I am the same. To me a guitar is tool and I'm will pay for functionality. Looks are second. Burst is my all time favorite color way. That guitar you got is awesome.
