Hey all, first time posting here ever. For a majority of my adult life I have always loved the blues, delta grunge, slide sounding tones from dobro, resonators and so forth. Does anyone know how to play slide? are there slide players here that I pick your brain for a bit. I bought a used washburn resonator a few months back, I have been playing 3-4 hours a day consistently now for months. I am really enjoying it a lot. Anyone out there make DIY slides out of copper or brass tubing?

Some of you may have seen this post. I have an update. My brother-in-law is disabled due to spinal issues, and now his hands are failing. He decided he couldn't play this guitar. I bought it from him, along with a Peavey Studio Pro 50 amp. I am just barely above FNG level.

However, I know a guitar/music teacher at a local school. I took it to him and he recognized it right away. It had belonged to a former student of his. Turns out there is a local guy who takes imitations and upgrades them for young wannabe guitar players. The teacher said the guy does it just to encourage young musicians and doesn't sell any on his own because he doesn't want any issues with being accused of selling knockoffs.

This teacher friend owns two Strats (his favorite guitar) and he says the guy gets really close to the real thing. He played it for me and he can make it sounds really sweet. Motivated me to get busy!

I am an old guy, so my goal is just that when I get to the nursing home I'll be ready in case there are any other RWAs (Retirees With Attitude) there. :headbang:

Makes sense. MIA Strats - even Highway 1 models that have the big headstock and 6 screw trems still have 22 frets and that one has 21. Definitely not a strat expert by any means, that being said.

Looks nice - as long as it's keeping you happy, he and you got a good deal I'd say!

Yeah, you got it. My friend educated me on those differences.

He said the neck looks good and he had already made some adjustments when his student owned it, so it's definitely good enough for my level.

May or may not have to sell a Les Paul here soon. Spun a bearing in my daily driven Subaru WRX... Just spent 3k on a new shortblock, head studs, and a gasket kit and probably that's just the start lol.

50's thick neck yes. I have two but I play one WAY more than the other (nicer flame top and better pickups.) So I MAY be letting one go. We'll see when it's all said and done.

I mean I could sell the car as is. It is paid off but sucks I may get like 8k out of it vs the 17-19 it was worth running. Modded made 377 all wheel horsepower on an ethanol blend. Had the car almost 5 years and it's at 113k miles. I might as well rebuild and continue driving it!
