Lace sensors if I had to guess. they said they were selling for their uncle. he had never worn a belt when playing, or allowed anyone else to touch it. Sounds like tragic neglect to me. but, best of luck to them. hahaha

Pfft, unless it's a buddy of yours, don't worry about insulting. Make an offer around what you think is a reasonable value. If they are insulted, :notsure:

no interest here, but when the noty came through about it, I did a double take. thought Id share.

I am liking the looks of the PRS SE 24-08 though. Pretty nice package, though I surely dont need another guitar.

Got my Dime 333 back yesterday. SD Dime pickup set, Gotoh 1996t bridge, DR strings. Had the fretboard worked/cleaned etc and a new studded strap to complete the look. Played it a little bit last night. Pretty happy with it. Sounds better and hopefully it'll stay in tune better than the licensed Washburn Floyd. But it's a 20year old guitar, so as to be expected.

NGD! I got this PRS SE Custom 24-08 and I'm in love with it. It just inspires playing and it's difficult to put back. This is my first PRS and I am a believer.

might purty sir! def beyond my budget...

if you havent already, check out the 24-08 SE. trem, HB with coil split switches on both. Not to mention PRS are some of the most beautiful guitars out there. they got my wheels turning on what I can do with out from the stable now. I guess Cort is a better facility than I gave them credit for 30yrs ago.... I remember browsing the Sears catalog making wishlists when all others were a pipe dream

Can anyone recommend someone who does repair/restoration and installs mods on an ADA MP-1?
Also have a MosValve 962 power amp that needs the gain pot replaced...

I’ve had more than a few mp-1’s, still prefer stock to modded. What kind of work you wanting done ? I know several people in that, used to do a lot myself, but don’t have time anymore

I just need it gone through and given a clean bill of health.
Last time I plugged it in, it started to have a weird fizzy break-up to it.
    Original owner...
Tubes might be shot; only replaced once.
    Never changed the battery.
    Input jack modded or replaced.

Yeah, I wasn't looking to do any gain mods.

When I get a minute, I’ll hunt up a schematic, I have it in pdf somewhere, and a parts list. If you know someone handy with a soldering iron, replacing the electrolytic capacitors is about all that’s involved with a refurb. The go bad with age. My favorite one is from 1993 and never been touched, probably needs caps because of the noise, but sounds so damn good I don’t wanna touch it

    Thanks! Much appreciated.
I just need to get a decent soldering station, do some research on soldering temps, technique and what not for PC boards, desoldering pump, etc. It might be something I can tackle myself...maybe.
Think I'll replace the tubes first and see if that's the culprit. Any recommendations?

    Mine's an '88 Rev E.
    Caps look okay...

Most likely a tube has gone microphonic and/or is starting to fail; I'd certainly swap them first before diving down any other paths. Usually a good test is to tap on them with a chop stick while turned on, and you can typically hear the tap or fizz reproduced through the speaker. Other plausible culprit is a film of oxidation built up over the input or output jacks; could spray them with some deoxit or clean the contact points with a little bit of sandpaper.

Beyond that, perform a visual inspection of components. Typically when a resistor fails, you will notice the burn marks (or at least it will look a little toasty/darker than the others around it). Next, look over the electrolytic capacitors for any leaks or capacitors that look swollen.

If you don't see any toasty resistors or swollen or leaky caps, again, probably just the tubes.

For tube recommendations... these days it's almost more a matter of whatever's in stock, but for modern tubes I lean more towards tungsol reissue or sovtek LPS. In either case, I'd spring for the low noise/low microphonic test.

Think I'll give it a whirl tomorrow. Too many beers in me now.
If that's the case, I've been leaning towards TAD 12AX7A-C.
