I really dig that bridge plate with both edges milled down, it's a huge modern improvement that retains the classic look. And us tele folk abhor change, so that really matters lol.

Awesome finish, I really like the red on the upper bout that fades to black elsewhere, maybe it's an illusion which would only add to the mystique.

That thing wants a bunch of pedal steel licks to be played on it, have fun!

Thanks! Yeah, interesting how the wood takes a color and turns it into what you are seeing. That was very dark brown faded to a nuetral center. I thought was pretty sweet when I first did. It actually gets it's red when you apply the finish. Somehow the shiney makes the wood reflect light thats a kinda red.

Interesting! What did you use for dye and topcoat?

Leather dye, followed by Mohawk sanding sealer, followed by Tru Oil mixed with naptha.

Very cool. I'm willing to bet the sanding sealer helped get a flat finish from the Tru Oil a lot faster, especially since you thinned it.

If you put Tru oil on without the sealer it will kinda pull the dye up leaving little pools on dye in the finish. It's more important when you have multiple colors really. But you are correct about the Tru Oil thinning, it give it a very flat smooth finish. You don't even have to polish it it's so smooth. I don't. Plus TruOil takes for ever to cure to polish it and I never really liked polished finishes. Makes things to pretty and then I'll feel bad when I scratch it all up playing it haha!

Was looking to build a Blues Breaker pedal. I check Reverb just out of curiosity. Sellers want over $500 for one. Is it rare? No, there literally 30 or 40 up. I think it will cost me about $40 in parts if I decide to make one.

yup, the only real benefit is the look what I got factor. analog circuit..... yada yada... hahaha. Pedals are becoming increasingly volatile with respect to aftermarket pricing. Then when the interest catches, the makers start cranking out their version and with a premium price tag too.

Thanks! Plays awsome. Gonna cut a new nut for it to refine the height a bit. Used actual bone on this one and it cuts different than tusq. I cut a tiny bit to low I think.

Normally not a Gibson guy, but this looks pretty interesting. P90 Firebird. Even the knobs are unique.

I have tried to play these and their like... love the look, and as an ol skool Skynyrd nut, they hold a special place in my heart. But the length always felt very strange to me. Mos Def a purty one though!

I wonder how they play sitting down. Yeah, they look old school, love that about them.

Is this the same length neck as a Jaguar?

Not completely sure, as I have not had the opportunity to handle the Jag or similar in other Fenders. But I think the Fbird and the SG both have the neck sort of attached to the body rather than being set to a deeper pocket like the LP. I am not overly familiar with Scale lengths and such, but there is a definite noticeable difference when handling a Fbird. I feel like I have noticed that really tall lanky players tend to lean toward them. Allen Collins most notably in my memory.

Same issue with a lot of the exotic shaped bodies like the Firebird, the Gibson Explorer and the like. You can sit with them but you still want to have a strap on since they can and do want to slide away from you at times. I've owned an Ibanez X series (Explorer clone body) and a Fender Katana in the past, and neither of them were guitars I ever wanted to play without a strap even while seated.

Gibson Flying V bodies, on the other hand, are great for sitting with. The top side 'wing' of the V sits on top of your thigh, the lower wing is under, and you can lock it in place with your lower leg.
