Thanks! Pretty happy with it. There's a few changes to it yet.

The neck pickup sure was worth it.

Any of you use roasted maple necks? Curious if it less sensitive to humidity, thus requiring less truss adjustment. This interest me very much.

    Awesome!
Can you summarize your technique for Truoil application? Are you thinning and spraying it, or...?

    Less sensitive than what...?
    Unfinished roasted vs finished roasted?
    Unfinished roasted v unfinished/finished un-roasted?
    Similar cuts of wood?

IMO, all things being equal, there is no reason not to use roasted maple; except maybe looks.
The unfinished roasted I have owned were as stable, if not more so, than any plain maple neck I have owned.

    Sensitive to temperature and humidity.

Yeah, I read they were more resistant to it, but I was skeptical. Wanted to get some opinions.

    They do look great though.

Prep is key. Clean smooth surface. I use naphtha to clean wood after sanding.

I apply about four coats Tru oil full strength. After that I cut it 50/50 with Naptha and apply many coats with barley any on the any.

Let cure for about one month. Level sand with micro mesh of various high grits and finally car polish.

That's roughly the process. You have to be very patient with Tru oil.

    Just wiping it on?
What are you using for an applicator?
    Sand between coats?
    Wiping down between coats?

Lint and debris has always been my enemy when trying to use Truoil...

The dye job underneath is killer too, btw.

Myself, building amp/speaker cabs, I always wipe it on using a lent free cloth, very thin coats; in between coats I use 0000 steel wool, and then a tack cloth, before applying the next coat.

Yes, just wiping it on. You want barely any so it doesn't drip and it seems to level well that way too.

You're gonna get dust, I wet sand it with diluted Tru oil to remove. I also use an air filter in the room. Don't worry to much about it unless there's a hair or something. Most of that shit will sand off when finishing and buffing. You can always apply more Tru oil if you find something.

To apply, I use cut up pieces of Scott's shop towels. They're clean, always lint free and hold up nicely. Dip piece in, squeeze off excess, and then apply. Remember, barely any. Lots of thin coats. Be patient. Sometimes it takes me a week or two to get the result I need. I run up and down to my shop all day applying coats.

IDK, once you do a few you will see what I mean. You're gonna fuck something up, but that's learning. Can't tell you how many times I had to sand off and start over. I used to get pissed about it, now I just laugh. Makes you better.

Thanks on the dye. That's another process. You dye, then seal, then Tru oil. You can move dye around its sweet. You can't with spray. I see a lot of builders using dye. Like Dunable (I love their guitars).

PM me if you have questions.

I like using wet sand paper soaked in diluted Tru oil. 1200grit or so. Good for dust and hair removal too. Just be very careful not to remove to much.

I bit the bullet and dropped coin on a Nobels ODR-1. this came on the tail end of a C-list endeavor this passed weekend, that got me a Blues Driver, and a TubeScreamer for a great price. Upon getting them home, and completely reworking the pedalboard order the TS-9 was dead. Last pedal in the chain, and all others worked wonderfully, but when stepped on, the TS-9 did nothing but essentially mute the signal. He graciously took the pedal back and gave me more back than the agreed upon price. barring the inconvenience of it all, it worked out in my favor, but left me without a second stage OD to complete my needs. Research and time lead me to the ODR-1. I am not a shredder, but I do love a thick crunchy snarl.

Any of you guys have any experience with the NOBELS ODR-1? Thoughts? It should stack nicely after the Blues Driver I am thinking.

Finished this up over the weekend. It's not perfect by any stretch (look at the high E string placement on the neck!) I've got the intonation pretty decent. My only gripe is that even with the saddles all the way up the action is lower than I'd like as I'm getting a bit of buzz. Regardless, it looks great and sounds good in Drop-D.

For the high e, you likely still have a little play to work with in the neck pocket. Try loosening the strings a bit; then loosen the 4 neck bolts (loosen but don’t remove). Then put a little pressure on the side of the neck to shift it slightly in the pocket as you tighten the neck bolts back down. It will only need the slightest of movement to correct. If that isn’t working, or doesn’t stay, you can temporarily pull the neck off and add a little paper shim to the pocket.

I had to route the pocket to fit the neck as it was, which is surprising since it was an Affinity neck and body. I didn’t give myself enough room to work with, which is super annoying.

If I get adventurous I’ll open up the pocket some more to tilt it. This guitar has been a turd since I started working on it. I really only built it to use up spare parts.

On the hunt for a couple of Older Boss Pedals if any has any they would consider parting with..
    TR-2 Tremolo
    GE-7 Equalizer
I am trying to locate one of each of these manufactured prior to 2020 if possible. If you have or know anyone who has these. Please let me know.
    THANKS!

I got the 30th Anniversary model.
it has a bass cut pot in addition to the std 3-knobs and can be run at 18v. I am very pleased with it. It is LOUD! Quite versatile. Super clean boost and all points in between that and a nasty crunch. Lots of sonic versatility with the Spectrum pot. it isnt a linear change when they levels are adjusted, so turning knobs clockwise isnt just an increase but yields notable differences depending on your signal chain.... Considering you can spend up to 5x as much on an overdrive with a lot of limitations or a far more narrow focus, this pedal is swinging big at its price point. I know the price for the 30th is a little above and beyond, but the Bass cut pot is worth the difference in price. Especially when you consider that the bass mud was really the only complaint the pedal had overall, and that was on Humbuckers. This pedal makes Single Coils sound far larger and more full. P90's sound killer!
It was also touted as being reconfigured to match more closely the original 90's model. (at least according to the website and some other sources) This was based on numerous legacy models they had on hand and used in the development of the 30th. I can neither confirm nor deny this. But I am thrilled with the pedal as my main OD.
