Interesting. And logical. Just hope it doesn't wind up looking as bulbous as the illustrations.

    I already drive a 5 lug. :D

And once upon a time I had a '67 El Camino with a non functional 396 Chevelle hood and Z28 wheels. Sorta like a Tacoma Sport.:rofl:

I wouldn't put much faith in that... Doing a google search on "Toyota Stout" brings up a couple of enthusiast renderings (all seemly based off Maverick pics) and lot of click-bait page speculation, but nothing even remotely Toyota-sourced.

I have a feeling toyota is going to come out with something to compete with the maverick. There is a market there and toyota knows if they make something it will outsell the maverick.

Edit: this article has a little more insight.

Too bad the Santa Cruz doesn't come as a hybrid. otoh, Hyundai/Kia are making the best (economical) cars on the road these days

Economical is a stretch. The wife and I like the Telluride but not for $72k.

I came across a Santa Cruz a while back for $15k over sticker. I should have bought two.

that's fair, though in the grand scheme of the automotive market, there's no bargains. I guess my point was that those two brands are punching above their respective weights for the dollars

Yeah, we really wanted one but the Kia dealers around here are dicks. Doesn't help that there are far fewer of them than most other brands.

On the other hand, I had 4 or 5 Honda dealers bending over backwards to give me the best deal they could on a vehicle that's going to be out of production shortly, if it isn't already.
